Here's the classic that ended Lou Holtz's career--incidentally, a lot of the carnage was caused by the fact that Holtz was shouting at his players "Stop! Stop! Please, show some sense!,"* but nobody could understand what he was saying:
Horrible. Absolutely horrible and unprecedented. Oh, wait:
Not for nothing, but note that in 1983 both teams throwing punches, swinging helmets, etc. was "a little family fun," while in 2004 the announcers all but called for national guard snipers to start picking off the players.
