Matter of perspective I guess. Mangini isn't what I would consider HC and GM material. One of the best HC's in history (Holmgren) couldn't do both. But Mangini added players that allowed us to win those last 4 games. That's a start. It's undoubtedly because he wants character guys, something H3 agrees with.
I don't think I sugarcoated anything. Just don't think he is a horrible a football guy as you imply. Opie did it 24-7 and Mangini was light years better. And he also had to coach.
MoMass and Robo and Cribbs and Stuckey - hard to evaluate these guys with the pile of poo playing QB last season. That's not an opinion that's a fact. We don't have a #1 WR. But then again until Moss came to NE, Brady never had one either and he won 3 SB's. Hasn't won one since.
