It all starts here...

I as many of you tuned into the game yesterday and I trust you were all as impressed with what I saw as I was. To be frank and completely honest, I saw everything I wanted to see from the team. Although it's just a pre-season game, there are plenty of positives to draw upon, there were also some negatives so here's 10 of my thoughts:
1) Colt was deadly accurate: I thought Colt had a great performance 9 for 10, with a beautiful TD pass to Josh Cribbs who got TEXTBOOK separation on that catch as well. The one incomplete pass was a catchable pass that was dropped. Colt could have easily been 10 for 10. I think as a first performance in Colt's new system, it was perfect for him. I really hope he can put any doubts to bed in Week 1 of the regular season and score some points with our offense like he did in this pre-season game.
2) I was very impressed with Jordan Norwood: I think he looked great out there. He made plays at wide receiver and honestly I thought he looked very good returning punts as well. I think he will be that "Danny Amendola" type we have all discussed but he's got more raw talent if you ask me.
3) I liked what I saw of the WR corps: I think Greg Little looked good out there. That first catch of the night he made, Colt through it well over his head and he made a challenging catch in coverage look effortless. Robiskie and Cribbs both made catches in coverage for first downs, plus, again, Cribbs beautiful TD reception. This is really as much a compliment to the WR corps as it was to Colt McCoy. They got open enough and Colt exploited a lot of the zone and man-to-man coverage that Green Bay tried to use like an assassin.
4) Jayme Mitchell looked good out there: I thought he caused a lot of disruption during his time on the field and that sack he got was awesome. I think I see why Heckert had his eye on him from last year.
To juxtapose this, I was a bit miffed by how much of a non-factor Jabaal Sheard was, it seemed like when Ryan Grant gouged us, it was for the most part up Sheard's side of the field and I didn't see him get much pressure. I don't want to worry about it, his first pro game but I would have liked to see a little spark. Hopefully he brings it for the next pre-season game.
5) Seneca was Seneca: This was a good thing and a bad thing. During his time on the field we saw everything in the Seneca Wallace package. He threw me off completing his first couple passes to the left side of the field but then those bad habits crept back in. He flees from the pocket at the slightest sense of trouble. A lot of times it was unnecessary and he makes mistakes when he gets flustered like that.
6) The FUMBLE!: I thought that was a great play, we just owned Matt Flynn and that fumble for a TD was just a great moment. I jumped for joy and it was great to just see that play come together for our D... those, if I'm not mistaken, were the #2's? Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
7) Jarred Brown: I was excited to see Jarred Brown but he did not look good. That pick he threw was 100% preventable. He was pressured, he wasn't even on his feet when he threw the ball and the guy he threw it to was covered. Just a bad play for a guy who's been making noise in camp for his accuracy and arm strength. Anyone else notice how after that all we did was run the ball?
8) I love Peyton Hillis: Not like Hiway, mind you... but I just love watching him run the ball. ESPECIALLY in the end zone. The guy is a bulldozer, every time he touched the ball he pretty much busted through Green Bay's D for gains every time. The guy rarely runs for negative yards and when he's in the red-zone he's like a shark to blood.
9) The secondary looked good overall. Sheldon Brown was outclassed completely by Greg Jennings and guaranteed if this was a regular season game, Aaron Rogers would have made us pay big time. Other than that though we looked good. Ward made a couple big plays. Skrine was like a wasp out there, he's fast as hell and hawks the ball well. He broke up more than his fair share of plays. Robinson didn't look too bad either but his showboating after every play he made got old quick, and when he gets burned the Fans will remember.
10) Unfortunate...: ...That we didn't get to see Jordan Cameron make any plays, he was the only player on my checklist that didn't really do anything. Granted, he was on the field with Jarred Brown and we pretty much just ran the ball the entire time so I'm hoping we will get to see some more from him in the other pre-season games. Ditto for Johnathan Haggerty.
