Kansas City Royals at Cleveland Indians
Jacobs Field, to me was the best ballpark in the entire world. I grew up with the great Indians’ teams of the 90’s. Look into my storage boxes and you will find baseballs with autographs of every Indians player of that decade I obtained from sprinting to the players’ parking lot after every game.
This game was special though. My best friends from high school, my wife, my brother and Mom all sat in the bleachers (my first time at the Jake) to view, what we thought, was a sure win against the lowly Royals.
There isn’t much more to say about the Jake. The Tribe lost, much to my chagrin. However, my wife and her friend had my Mom doing shots and drinking beers across the street at Local Heroes (tragically overpriced) which added a hilarious aspect to the afternoon.
My Mom, I love her, is an absolute lush and was TANKED by inning 3.
I love that field, Progressive/Jacobs Field… Whatever you want to call it will always be my favorite ballpark overall.
I had to see them win, though. I brought the wife back down to the Jake and bought 2 lower box seats by first to see them take on the A’s. They won. Everything was right in the world.
Then the Tribe, in a playoff race, completely collapsed as I got to watch every ensuing game on TV.
