Lebron James appreciation day in Akron.

I decided to jump into the car and head up to Infocision Stadium in Akron this morning for Lebron James appreciation day. It was a decent time as I got to chat with:

Fred McLeod & Campy Russell.

Lebron James and his Aunt.

OK, so this was just the guy who won the "Lebron James look-a-like contest." Nice dude.

The Akron Zips Cheerleaders.

And a bunch of really cool fans.

One guy I ran into had hopped a bus all the way from New York, and even took an excruciatingly long amount of time to make a sign for the event.

Yes, we all waited in the sweltering heat, and watched as the band Cold Blue Steel was embarrassed due to a poor job by the sound guy. (we couldn't hear a thing but it sure looked like they were rockin' out)

What were we all waiting and hoping for? The King himself, Lebron James to grace us with his heavenly presence. Instead, the people who have been supporting this kid, and enjoying this guy since he was just a lad in junior high ....left disappointed.

Towards the end they were building up towards some sort of climax, as if Lebron James himself might fall from they sky. What's that you say? Three men jumping out of an airplane and onto Infocision field?

As we all sit there hoping beyond hope one of these guys is going to astonishingly be James, we are naturally disappointed by the three unknowns who land.

And that's the end of the event, the MC thanks us for coming out and supporting our city and LBJ, and it's a mad dash to get the hell out of Dodge.

So I am sitting in the sweltering heat of my car, stuck in the parking lot traffic and dealing with rude drivers when I suddenly hear the MCs voice on the loud speaker again. "Ladies and gentlemen, what would Lebron James appreciation day be without the man himself?" My girl and I look at each other perplexed as I swerve into a parking place and run a 4.2 forty back to the field.

And here he is in all his majesty.....Lebron James.

You must be thinking to yourself, "wow, these pictures suck" ...as I know I would be. Unfortunately LBJ decided to wait until 85% of the people who had waited 3+ hours in hopes of seeing him, had dispersed and were long gone ..to finally make an appearance. Had it not been for my break-neck speed, I wouldn't have even had this proof to offer up that he indeed did show up. James spoke briefly, saying something to the affect of "I love the city of Akron, and I'm grateful for all of you being here and everything you've done for me, and that's about all I can say." Not an exact quote, but pretty close.

Thanks Lebron, the 20 people who were still there appreciate it.

No worries, all will be forgiven if you stick around.

Back to the car, and off to another adventure.
