Totally Bored 2012 Mock Draft
Like the topic says, i'm bored! I am also well aware it's early, there'll be disagreements with my picks or where I have guys listed and whatever. We all know nothing is set in stone yet. But i'm bored and decided to do a quick 7 round mock for us. Have at it.... 1a: LB- Luke Kuechly, Boston College. The Browns need help at linebacker, simple as that. Scott Fujita is up there in age and just can't seem to stay healthy and we have the picks to move on. With this pick we get a very cerebral, versatile prospect we can plug in at several positions. With this mock I have us moving D'Qwell to WLB and Gocong to SLB with Kuechly in the middle. 1b: CB- Chase Minnifield, Virginia. After moving back in the draft to acquire an extra 2nd and 5th rounders we take Chase Minnefield with our 2nd first giving Haden and Ward some aid in the backfield. Chase is a damn good player that will improve our backfield by leaps and bounds. 2a: QB- Nick Foles, Arizona. Andrew Luck and Matt Barkley both go before we pick and we have too many needs to make a trade. With our first of two 2nd rounders thanks to trades I have us taking Nick Foles. In my opinion and from watching alot of his play as well as other QB's play he is a better prospect than Jones and Griffith. He's a
legit 6'5", accurate with a strong NFL arm and an absolute steal in the 2nd. With this we land another promising prospect to compete with McCoy for the starting job next season. 2b: WR- Juron Criner, Arizona. What once was a first round prospect falls in the draft to the 2nd round. An absolute steal in the 2nd and it gives us a legit #1 prospect that already has chemistry with Nick Foles. Criner alongside Little and MoMass gives us a MUCH improved WR set. 3: DE- Melvin Ingram, South Carolina. In the 3rd we draft our bookend opposite Sheard, a promising youngf prospect with good pass rushing skills with the versatility to play DE as well as kick in on DT opening up our defensive play book. 4a: OL- Mike Ryan, Uconn. We need serious help on the Offensive line. With this pick we draft a versatile player experienced at LT as well as RT but may also be a good Guard prospect. Excellect run blocker, decent pass blocking skills. 4b: RB- Dan Herron, Ohio St. No i'm not an OSU homer but I respect Herron's ability. Thanks to a boneheaded mistake in the offseason causing him a suspension I have him falling to us at Atlanta's pick which could be an absolute steal. I am also under the assumption we resign Hillis and Herron will be compting with Hardesty and Ogaboganuwaii or whatever for the backup RB position. FWIW I think Herron will win that battle. 5a: FS- Aaron Henry, Wisconsin. We need to get some competition in here at FS. In the 5th there isn't really any Ed Reed type ballhawks available but Henry has good coverage skills with a window to improve and very good run stopping skills. Definitely worth a 5th rounder. 5b: OL- J.B. Shugarts, Ohio St. I swear i'm not a homer! Anyways Shugarts is a solid player that needs to add some muscle but is worth drafting. I would draft him to play Right Guard personally so with that said with this pick we land ourself a solid RG prospect that falls to the 5th round due to relatively minor character red flags. 6: K- Derek Dimke, Illinois. We need to find the replacement for Phil Dawson. We find the best prospect in the draft in the 6th round. 7: FB- Devon Ramsay, UNC. Marecic so far is unimpressive as it gets. Can't block and can't catch. Ramsey fixes that. At 6'2" and 250lbs he has the size and experience to block and he can catch passes as well. With our 7th round pick we move on from the Marecic experiment.
