Default OT: The Pac 10's taking over the world

You can move this to the Campus forum if you want...but nothing's going on right now, so we might as well discuss it here.

Quote:
Report: Pac-10 to strike first with blockbuster bid for half the Big 12

While the Big 12 has been busy this week trying to convince the rest of the country that no, really, everything is just fine over here, Pac-10 higher-ups have been quietly planning for a meeting this weekend that, according to Cal-Berkeley chancellor Robert Birgeneau, could "revolutionize college football." If a new report today by Texas-based Orangebloods.com is accurate*, revolutionize may be a bit of an understatement: According to "multiple sources close to the situation," the Pac-10 plans to offer conference membership to six Big 12 teams at its conference meeting in San Francisco, forming a 16-team behemoth that spans the entire Western half of the country and encompasses seven of the nation's top 20 television markets.

Those six teams: Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Colorado.

The vastly restructured league will reportedly feature two eight-team divisions with an East-West divide: The new newcomers with join Arizona and Arizona State in the "Inland" division, with the original "Pac-8" schools – California, Oregon, Oregon State, Stanford, Southern Cal, UCLA, Washington and Washington State – hold in the "Pacific" division.

If any of you guys ever listen to Rivals Radio and Bill King, it's not just the Pac Ten making a move on the Big 12. The Big Ten is going after them too.

Yeah, if the Big 12 gets raided, Missouri & Nebraska would be nice additions to the Big Ten.

I think the Big 12 knows it is in big trouble - when their commisioner comes out and demands a comittment from league schoos by April 2011 or be penalized then the league seems doomed. I can't imagine the Big 10, SEC or Pac-10 ever doing this or needing to do this.

Would rather see Texas, et al join the Pac-10 than the SEC, SEC fans are obnoxious enough as it is! It is hard enough as an Ohio State fan here in SEC land if the SEC landed Texas and OK then it would be 10X's worse.

The time has come for Notre Dame to drop their superiority complex and join the Big 10 before they sink even further into irrevalancy. As it is right now they might be able to finish 8th in a 12 team Big 10 or they can join a league they can realistically be competitive in the mid west called the MAC!

If anyone here wants to take the time to explain to me the different College Football divisions than feel free. If not I'll post a thread about it there.

GO WOLVERINES!

I'm a little confused. While all of a sudden is the Big 12 in danger of hostile takeovers?

I think Neutred Lame would be better off in the MAC or Conference USA.

Supposedly, the Big 10 is making overtures to Texas and Nebraska. Missouri has also been in the mix.
