Remember the Exxon Valdez?
Biggest ocean oil spill in history to that point and all the gloom and doom that came with it?
The scientists said it'd take about 20 years for wildlife and the ocean to return to normal, and they are now, but it took years of cleanup. All the while the fishing and hunting industries took a nose dive in the area.
I bet it's going to take about 60 years for things to return to how they were after all the cleanup is done unless we find a way to re-seed the ocean so to speak.
And if you think the killing of all that wildlife is going to make it safer to swim in the ocean, nope.
Sharks prefer fish and animals to us, but if we wipe out their food source they don't mind us as fishfood, so I'm thinking shark attacks will drop for about 5 years then shoot through the roof as soon as the bulls and tigers start getting a foothold back in the gulf.
