So from another article I gleaned the guy lost 3 dogs and a cat inside the burning home.
So the firefighters stood by and watched 4 household pets die unnecessarily.
My question is, what the hell would have happened if it were children, not pets, in there?

What the fuck do we pay taxes for ? Police, firemen are part of the public service paid for from taxes....this is extortion...something that would happen in China....not in the US.... SICK!

I think this is a more rural area and likely outside of the city limits....therefore city taxes don't pay for services. I don't know this..but that is what it sounds like. I know people who live in the boonies who have to pay fees like this. At least I hope that's the situation. It would suck to pay taxes for services..then have to pay for the services again.

You mean like when you look at your pay check and see how much in taxes have been taken from you then you go to the store and pay tax etc,etc.....
I'm quite sure it is a "boonie's situation" and they are not part of the city and have there own rural thing going but it is sick to watch it burn rather than putting it out,really sad that we have to deal with this kind of stupidity in the twenty first century.

To your point, it really depends on the area. I have lived in some pretty rural areas where there were separate fees for fire services or the fire service was entirely volunteer.

Ultimately, Townships, Counties, Cities, etc. are feeling an unbelievable tightening of purse strings...and it's only going to get worse.

Tough choices have to be made...I don't think the loss of property (and the potential loss of life) should be a choice. In other words, whether or not the property owner paid the fees should not effect the job of the firefighters to put it out.

Turn off your vehicles every time you go grab a starbucks or dunkin donuts. Maybe don't roast your tires peeling out from every stoplight. Gas ain't cheap. Neither are Michelins.
