And as much as I hate to say it, EE, I'd put Rapelessberger 7th, before E manning, Schaub, Flacco and Romo (until Romo does anything int he playoffs).

Fair enough, I put Roethlisburger where I did because I am hating on him pretty strong right now I can't lie about that. I think he should have to face the responsibility of what he's done but that's a whole other discussion. He IS a Top 10 QB that, when at the top of his game, can pick apart the best defenses. I just have a feeling 2010 will have a lot of on and off field drama that will result with Big Ben not looking so mighty.

I think 2010 will be the changing of the guard for the hierarchy of NFL QB's. I think we'll see players like Flacco, Shauab, Rogers, Alex Smith and Tony Romo (who, like Smith, looked a lot like the QB the Cowboy's wanted and showed the potential the Cowboys have seen in him.) break out and establish themselves as not just premier QB's but players that can take their team to the next level and push for the Super Bowl.

I mean, not all those QB's will see ultimate success but I predict at least one, maybe two of those QB's will lead their teams deep into the playoffs. Watch me eat my own words

Yeah, there are some guys who feel like they're on the brink. Schaub already had an amazing year, but he has to show that he can answer the bell game after game and take a team to the playoffs. Those are his next steps.

Rodgers certainly did all he could to win that playoff game (and much more)... but in the end, he just has to win this time.

I think Sanchez and Smith look like the candidates to get into the top tier, like the top 10-12 passers in the league.

I have no idea what to expect from Leinart this season. I've always been a big fan, but a lot has happened in the last few years, including some drab cameos. But I won't be shocked if he's really good.

My biggest issue with EE's List is Flacco ahead of Ryan. Flacco had a better defense and better running game that got him to where he did. I think based on pure quaterbacking, Ryan showed more.

Huh? Say what, say what?

I don't think there are many people who will say Sanchez "looked like" a top 10-12 QB. He benefitted - much like Flacco - from a great running game and great defense, but as a QB his numbers were typical rookie stuff. Flacco has at least shown me something, Sanchez is still just a 2nd year QB. And Alex Smith "looks like" a top tier QB? Since when? I think we should wait and see what DC's do when he goes 5 wide and actually gameplan to stop it. I like Smith a lot, he is hard working and not looking to have anything handed to him. I am pulling for him big time. But top 10-12? Aiy yai yai.

Top 16 QB's

Brady
Manning
Brees
Rodgers
Favre
Rivers
Ben
McNabb
Schaub
Flacco
Romo
Eli
Ryan
Cutler
Palmer

I can agree with that. I put Flacco ahead on my list because he has accomplished more, Flacco's the kind of QB that has exceeded his expectations and I expect he will be a mainstay for the Ravens for a long time.

With Ryan, he had a very good rookie year but last year the Falcons seemed kind of stagnant. I was hoping they would bust out of the NFC South and maybe make a run at the superbowl, maybe in 2010. I suspect any top QB list for 2011 will look drastically different from the list I generated here. I think it will be a big year for newer names, like Matt Ryan, asserting themselves as premier QB's.

Shep, I know you love Sanchez but I really don't know. His rookie year he had a great D (the best in the NFL, IMO) to bail him out. I think Flacco and Ryan both showed more their rookie seasons than Sanchez did. Sanchez has this star power that has inflated his reputation also, IMO. Next season we will get a better sense of what he's capable of, I don't know if he will assert himself as a top-tier QB. I think his progression will be a bit more like Eli Manning, rocky start but eventually he'll grow into a damn talented QB.

Vegas, great list. Thanks for your input!

All great points thanks. I just think put Ryan on the Ravens and Flacco on the Falcons and Ryan would show to be well better than Flacco. Flacco is the one name on that list I expect many people will be dispaointed in in about 5 years. The others just haven't proven themselves yet as you said.

I pretty much agree with your list from top to bottom.

Mine is a prediction: Sanchez and Smith will move up dramatically this season.

The very highest I could see Smith and/or Sanchez rising in the above list is above Cutler and below Ryan. And I do think Cutler MAY have a comeback year under Martz.

It's interesting you brought that up MZ cause they were talking about that on the NFL network the other day and when Martz was in the studio last year he was brutally harsh on Cutler for his work ethic among other things.

I agree, if Cutler cuts his bullshit attitude and really listens to Martz he could light it up for them this year

(Man, I just realized that we are no longer saying "next year" and now "this year" it's almost here gents!!)

Cannot wait to move in the next few months, ditch Time Warner, get DirecTV/Sunday Ticket and NFL Network (just in time for the Jake Delhomme era!).

Yeah I think it is very interesting about Cutler and Martz. Both have something to prove. Does he have a Marshall to throw to? Does he need one? Going to be interesting.

I think for 2010 Sanchez hurts his team. Sophmore thing. Don't be surprised to see the Jets underwhelm. Called that before and after the draft.

But yeah Cutler is in an interesting spot. We'll see.
