Default NFL QB's... where would YOU rank them?

Since anyone with a pen, and even the minor motor skills to throw together a sentence seems to be able to call themselves a Football connoisseur, I have a question for all of us QB fans. Where would you rank them? This is how they were ranked on a FOX news article that ol' Rich posted.

1. Roethlisberger
2. Favre
3. Romo
4. Rivers
5. Brady
6. Manning P.
7. Brees
8. Flacco
9. Rogers
10. Henne
11. Manning E.
12. Ryan
13. Shauab
14. Mcnabb
15. Palmer
16. Cutler
17. Kolb/Vick
18. Hasselbeck
19. Sanchez
20. Orton
21. Young
22. Stafford
23. Josh Freeman
24. Bradford/Feeley
25. Garrard
26. Campbell
27. Cassell
28. Smith
29. Leinart
30. Delhomme
31. Moore
32. Edwards

Now, there's some order to this chaos but other positionings have me shaking my head. Roethlisburger, despite his 2 Super Bowl rings, is NOT the best QB in the entire NFL. Period. How is Romo ahead for Manning AND Brees? I don't know if Romo would even crack the top 5 on a list I could generate, maybe not even top 10. Shauab is a top 10 QB, the Texans will be a contender next year. Chad Henne is NOT a top 10 NFL QB... The Rams should be near the cellar of that list. Unproven Sam Bradford and AJ Feeley... please. Based on the lunacy of this list, one could argue the Browns as high as even 28th or 27th...

What say ye?

I'd like to begin by saying that's about the worst list I've ever seen. Flacco over Rodgers? Ben over Manning and Brees? Yikes. It's like some Pittsburgh guy's wife put it together.

Chad Henne at #10? I guess this is a guess at next year, but it's a pretty wild one.

My top 8 are pretty solid:

Manning
Brees
Rodgers
Brady
Favre
Rivers
Schaub
Roethlisberger

I think Schaub will move higher up the list. I think Rodgers could go to the very top. After that, based on the big picture, I head for...

Romo
E. Manning
Ryan
Flacco
McNabb
Palmer
Cutler

That puts me at 15. After that, you're REALLY projecting and guessing. Guys that I like next are mostly players I think are on the verge of taking the next step:

Sanchez
Smith
Stafford
Henne

That gets me to 19. The next "tier" would be guys I like or I find intriguing, but I have questions:

Leinart
Bradford (bad team, rookie)
Kolb (I like a lot of things... but not the way he throws)
Campbell (he's in the "not bad" area)

At that point, we hit guys I just don't believe in (Young) or are at the end of the line.

1. Peyton Manning
2. Brett Favre
3. Drew Brees
4. Tom Brady
5. Aaron Rogers
6. Matt Shauab
7. Phil Rivers
8. Ben Rothethlisberger
9. Tony Romo
10. Carlson Palmer

Oh, and that list by fox sports is COMPLETELY whacked. Even if you take out Roethlisberger, the whole order is completely screwed up. Who the hell wrote this? Some 15 year old who likes to play Madden?

Have to say, based on age, I'd put Rivers ahead of Favre. But you're list is a dang good one.

I pretty much agree. I couldn't decide whether to put them in order of value, like who I'd take in a free agency draft... or of how good they are today, right now.

Rivers has been carrying that team for two years as LT's ability fell off a cliff. He won me over when he played hurt in the playoffs.

Whatever's holding them back, it ain't him.

People may call me crazy, but if I was drafting from that list now. the order would be quite different.

I'd likely go.

Rodgers
Rivers
Schaub
Ryan

Manning, Brady, Brees also have some milage on thier tires.

Brees is young enough and healthy enough that I'd still consider building a team around him.

I didn't feel like Brady was the same guy last year, but we'll see.

Manning is getting long in the tooth. You could win now with him... but he probably has three years near his peak before the injuries show up.

I would absolutely put Rodgers at the top of my list, too. I think he's THE quarterback of the next five years.

Surprised to see some love for Aaron Rogers, two #3's shows that the guy gets mad respect.

My top 10 would be...

1. Drew Brees
2. Peyton Manning
3. Philip Rivers
4. Brett Favre
5. Aaron Rogers
6. Tom Brady
7. Matt Shauab
8. Tony Romo
9. Eli Manning
10. Joe Flacco

I would feel weird about putting Favre so high if he didn't just come off one of the best years of his entire career, literally. I have always felt Eli Manning was underrated. He's not as good as his brother, no, but he's still a damn talented QB with a Super Bowl ring on his hand.

11-20 is a bit harder to draw the line.

11. Ben Roethlisberger
12. Matt Ryan
13. Donovan McNabb
14. Carson Palmer
15. Kyle Orton
16. Matt Hasselbeck
17. Jay Cutler
18. Jason Campbell
19. David Garrard
20. Alex Smith

I gave Orton some points because I think he showed that he can run an offense and that he has the skill to win football games in 2009 with the Broncos. If he can keep his job through 2010, and Denver decides they want to chance it with Tebow or Quinn, Orton shouldn't have much trouble finding a team who wants his services. David Garrard was a pro-bowl QB last year, yeah because other players didn't want to go due to injuries but hey, Pro Bowl! Alex Smith showed the entire NFL what San Fransisco saw in him when they drafted him years ago. It's finally looking like he will emerge into a premier NFL QB. 2010 will be his year to put up or shut up.

...Aaand the rest

21. Chad Henne
22. Matt Cassel
23. Mark Sanchez
24. Vince Young
25. Matt Stafford
26. Matt Moore
27. Jake Delhomme
28. Kevin Kolb
29. Matt Leinart
30. Josh Freeman
31. Trent Edwards
32. AJ Feeley

I'm not sure about Josh Freeman, or Tampa Bay, that's why he got ranked so low. I think Matt Cassel with a full year under his belt in the KC system will be improved. I'm not so sure that Matt Leinart will play better than Jake Delhomme in 2010, even with all the weapons Arizona has, and Derek Anderson would not fare much better. Matt Moore's play was excellent, that's why Carolina didn't feel Delhomme had a place on their team anymore. If he continues his strong play, the Panthers won't need to worry about rushing one of their rookies to be ready. AJ Feeley has been named the Rams starter, its really only a matter of time before they cave and let Sam Bradford run... as wild as he can with that Rams offense. They're a ways away from re-emerging as the greatest show on turf.

I don't mind your list, EE, but I have an issue with this right here.

Kevin Kolb could be the worst QB of all time and still have a much better season than Delhomme will have based solely on his weapons (Jackson, Maclin, Celek, McCoy).

That, and he's way better than Delhomme.

Nice list, EE. A few disagreements, but mostly I dig it.

Rodgers has it all for me: Quickest release in the NFL, 36 on his Wonderlic, good athlete, consistent spiral, big-time top 10 arm... the whole thing.

I'm watching Ponder. I think Alo said he just blew up a Wonderlic and, too me, he looks the part when he throws. I'm curious to see how good he can be this year.

The thing with Kolb, and I do agree that he has a plethora of weapons in Philly as opposed to JDH here in Dawg Town... the thing is he hasn't really established his pedigree as a starter, where as Jake has. Yes, Jake's bouncing off a terrible season but Kolb's started all of what four games, and looked good in one or two of them? I'll rank Delhomme higher because he's established. I back and forthed on them and decided to rank Delhomme higher because his role on Clevleand is well established. Kolb could burn out and fade away as fast as Philly decided to back him.

Shep, I'm right there with you about Aaron Rogers. Green Bay clearly knew that they had something with him when they let Favre go, you don't just let the guy who has been the QB Staple of your franchise, Super Bowl winner go without having faith in his replacement. I absolutely agree that Rogers will be one of the 'big' QB's of this next era of Quarterbacks as the Mannings and Bradys and McNabb's start to hit the twilight of their careers.

Any critiques of my list? (Aside from the one Mz. presented) I'm open to hear them
