And on the other hand, we have this about McCoy:
Quote:
McCoy impressed everybody in Berea with his work ethic, eagerness to learn and natural leadership in May and June before departing. Mangini likes his rookies to have time to do a load of laundry and get in a workout at their old high school before bringing them back to work, which is why the Browns are the first team to officially have camp rolling. McCoy found time to get married, and both he and the Browns knew it was important to get his contract done in time so he wouldn't miss a thing, even just an all-rookie meeting.

What the Browns should be hoping is that McCoy's 2010 season starts now and essentially ends Sept. 2 when the preseason ends.

That means he gets seven weeks to take snaps and real reps running the Browns' plays, gets a little live experience against second and third-team defenses (maybe a drive against the Bears' starters on Sept. 2) and then runs the scout team and holds the clipboard when the real games start, still learning but not getting his face or his confidence shattered in the process.

I'm not saying it will happen but wouldn't it be nice to find out our franchise is already on the bench?
QB is a tired position to discuss whether we have one or not I'm sick of talking about it because we do have alot of positives we can smile about.
It's nice to be able to be positive for a change about what we do have rather than what we wish we had.

I'm not against having more QB discussions: in the last few weeks, I've started threads on Hunter Cantwell and Matt Flynn.

But when talking about two rookies with very similar skill sets, it's hard to say "Holmgren picked the wrong one" based on one National Football Post report.

I know you feel strongly about a franchise QB Shep but H3 slammed the gavel and picked Colt McCoy. Holmgren believes in him, and is giving him a year to develop. That's good enough for me.

If Kafka lights it up in training camp/pre-season he's in a good spot should Kevin Kolb not exactly work out for the Eagles, I think everyone here is agreeing that Vick is WAY past his prime... that opens the door for Kafka to prove his worth to the Eagles.
This is an excellent point.

I also have a question for you Shep. Why the hell would you advocate trading for a 4th rounder, when, in your own words, the only QB that can possibly lead us to the promised land is a 1st round blue-chip prospect?

Ok, at first I was going to keep my mouth shut, but shep, what the fuck are you doing back here? Don't you realize we're too busy doing....wait...let me quote you

If we are dead to you then what are you doing here less than a month after leaving in a huff?

We're trying to make things look good over here, so why are you here? And starting QB threads no less, didn't you learn your lesson?

I'm a pretty forgiving chap, but you slammed the shit out of us over on TBB and made your exit as ugly as possible, so if you think you can just waltz back over here and start posting like nothing happened then you got another thing coming.

You me an apology
You gabe an apology
and finally you owe this board an apology.

That's if you want to come back.

If you don't and your just bored, then go rid your boredom somewhere else, cause I'm not in the mood.

You've brought up alot of good things about the rookie QBs (McCoy and Kafka) in this thread Alo.

And Shep, I tried in that other thread to remind everyone that we've all had time to cool down and this is a fresh start. That's only gonna last as long as you refrain from pushing their buttons.

More specifically, people do NOT want read that you can't wait for the 2011 season with another new Head Coach and any new Qbs except the ones we have; especially when greed has a great chance of intercepting the 2011 season from getting off the ground.

People are trying to get excited about the season so they're just not gonna understand why you hope to see this team suck in 2010. I don't ever remember you wanting to see this team lose before so I confess to not understanding you nearly as much as I used to. On top of that, I'm so tired of starting over and hearing WCO. It hasn't worked yet.

The last time we were good in successive years - it started as a ball control offense where BOTH our RBs had great hands (Mack & Byner) while we had a HOF TE and a 2nd round WR named Webster Slaughter and Reggie Langhorne from Elizabeth City State. Once we got the running game off the ground and the QB transition was made from Danielson to Kosar - Lindy Infante got really innovative.

Anyway, we've added some really good hands to our backfield (throwbacks to Craig & Rathman?). I think the TE position is considerably better than last year at this time so we're getting there. These are ball control offense improvements. Seneca Wallace may add another element for defenses to prepare for that seems to excite our offensive players when they talk about it. On top of that, Gil Haskell is really helping out our offensive staff. Let's let this get off the ground before we jump to conclusions.

We finished strong in 2009. 8th in rushing, 40 sacks and elite STs with a 4 game winning streak that includes the HATED Steelers.

How about we let our rookie .. ummm.... maybe take a snap before you start talking about trading for a rookie we passed up on that's on another roster. Holmgren passed on Kafka and took McCoy for a reason.. not just to piss you off Shep.. .. As for going to west coast offense next year.. Why would you even say that.. We kept Mangini and Daboll. ..

Oh, I heard that Javid Best looked good in ota's too maybe we should trade for him to replace Hardesty. Any other rookie that tied there shoes right in OTA's we should be trading for?

I like the pipe,
Crack is awesome, crystal meth is a way of life.
QB talk isn't quite as addictive or fun.
By the way your input kicks ass!

Gotta agree with Flugs on this one.

I'm focused on this year. Its hard to fathom any fan in late July talking about ...

- Switching to a new offensive system the following year
- Excited at the notion of acquiring another team's rookie 4th round pick before he's seen any live NFL action

Boggles the mind.
