Default NFL.com on Kafka...

Shit. Wonder what it would take to get him when we go WCO after this season?

*The Eagles quarterback who has caused the most offseason buzz in the building is not Kevin Kolb. And it’s not Michael Vick, either. It’s Mike Kafka, the team’s fourth-round pick out of Northwestern. Philly offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg tells me Kafka has been “on fire” in offseason practices, and praised him for his quick decisions. He said Kafka has been one of the most accurate rookie passers in the offseason that he ever has seen. Sounds like this kid has an outstanding chance to develop into a starter in that top-notch Eagles system.

Keep in mind, nobody has blitzed the rookie yet and opposing DCs have not had film on him. While I'm at it, they haven't even been rushing the passer in OTAs.

There's alot of stuff that will begin to take place where Kafka is gonna see some stuff he's never seen in the Big 10. He had alot learning curves in the Big 10 as well so just remember Qbs don't emerge in cohoots with convenience.

Let's just say Kafka DOES emerge as their best guy - at what point do we all feel happy that Heckert & Holmgren didn't work out a trade for Kevin Kolb?

I don't understand why were already gonna switch offenses after the 2010 season when we the veterans aren't even suiting up for their first day of training camp yet. Isn't Haskell here to help the current offensive staff? We're only 365 days into the new staff so let's see what the momentum of 8 new confident starters brings with any new welcomed additions for 2010.

If we are even mildly successful offensively this season, and Eric Mangini and Brian Daboll prove they belong as head coach and offensive coordinator, respectively, then we will not change offensive philosophy. That would be pure stupidity.

So why are we even speculating on which QB to go after, when we have no idea whether what we have will show improvement and progress, enough to keep with it, or if we truly are going to change.

I'm all for discussion and speculation and all, but lets at the very least keep our speculation to some known variables and quantities and not just make them based off biased assumption.

Good point - again, let's make it to the first day of training camp before we leapfrog to the 2011 draft. It's July and veterans haven't even packed their suitcases for Berea yet.

This thread is retarded,
If we need a QB that bad we already have a third rounder, why in the hell would we go trade for a fourth? Someone on here thought that third rounder we got would be gone in the first and yet he's our's for a three.
If we need a QB next year we will climb to grab the best we can round one, next year.

Its not all retarded. There were only 4 qb topics on page 1 and all were about mc coy.
going after kafka seems like filling out a fantasy roster when you get to your last pick though.

I loved Kafka in the draft. I had a gut on him live and after watching a lot of tape. I think he's going to surprise a lot of people.

There aren't many college QB's that don't have your saliva on there cocks.
We get it.
Then out of the thousands you liked you can always claim you were right about Aaron Rodgers.

Kafka was one of those, long-shot-mid-round-Holmgren-"archetype" styles picks from this last draft akin to that of Tony Pike (who I had more preference toward, honestly) or The Fever (who drafted him?) The fact of the matter is we took Colt McCoy and until he proves his worth, or lack of worth we really shouldn't worry about QB. I know you feel strongly about a franchise QB Shep but H3 slammed the gavel and picked Colt McCoy. Holmgren believes in him, and is giving him a year to develop. That's good enough for me.

If Kafka lights it up in training camp/pre-season he's in a good spot should Kevin Kolb not exactly work out for the Eagles, I think everyone here is agreeing that Vick is WAY past his prime... that opens the door for Kafka to prove his worth to the Eagles.

In my opinion, if we're replacing Colt McCoy, you aim higher than Colt... Flynn or RGIII don't really give me that warm and fuzzy feeling.

I think Riff & I watched the most of Kafka and were the first ones to bring him up as a Hasselbeck-esque developmental guy. Both McCoy & him seemed like natural fits for a Holmgren-esque WCO.

Kafka's the only one working from that kind of system right now. Hopefully, both McCoy and him will end up thriving in similar systems.
