Lets evaluate
Player X. A healthy QB in his late 20's, available on the cheap, who has a 72:52 TD to INT ratio and almost 4,000 yards rushing (7.2 average). As fans would it be ridiculous to discuss the possibilities of bringing him to Cleveland? Certainly not.
It does seems ridiculous though because
Player X is named Michael Vick.
It may be impossible to have intelligent discussion about this because emotion usually gets in the way of reason, but am I alone here in welcoming Vick for a one year trial? Whether you are a dog owner or not try leaving character out of your rationale.
Heckert made the deal bringing Vick into Philly and Reid will likely allow his departure after this year. Does anyone else like the idea cutting our losses with Anderson and having Vick back up Quinn in 2010?
I for one love the idea of a formation including Cribbs, Vick, and Harrison in the backfield. Teams would overload the line of scrimmage because of a triple threat where each player gains over 6.0 YPC. Insert Heckert's passing philosophy and we could see our receivers
wide open. The only argument I can think of against Vick would be the perceived negative
PR (in the beginning) and a career completion % of just 54%. Taking everything into consideration however, cost-benefit analysis says we should entertain the idea.
