This is really good news. I also think it makes it even clearer that he was struggling in the Spring: By Steve Doerschuk CantonRep.com staff report Posted Aug 08, 2010 @ 08:17 PM Haden breaks through Rookie first-round pick Joe Haden had a strong stadium scrimmage that drew raves from Browns wide receiver Josh Cribbs. “He’s picking up the game a lot easier than I thought,” said Cribbs, who couldn’t lose the rookie with a juke in the end zone — Haden broke up a would-be TD pass from Seneca Wallace. Cribbs said he has mentioned to coaches that Haden seems ready for prime time. “I noticed the difference between rookie camp to now,” Cribbs said. “He’s stepped his game up tremendously. “He’s still a rookie, but he’s showing vet tendencies.” Delhomme doubles that Quarterback Jake Delhomme also has been impressed with Haden. “The biggest thing I notice is how much better he’s playing from the spring to the summer,” Delhomme said. “I think he’s a lot better with pads on. “He’s competitive. It looks like it’s important to him. Some young guys with that kind of talent might be, ‘OK, I’m gonna be whatever.’ But I’ve noticed starting in the spring that it’s important to Joe. “After he signed, he missed the first day with the full squad, but his first day in full pads, it was like, wow ... he didn’t make those plays in the spring.” |

Steady improvement. I think that's what we want to see from all our rookies and in fact all our players. We'll see how it translates in real games soon enough, but so far you have to like the things you at least read about his attitude and work ethic.

| The same place McCoy got the arm strength for being a QB?

What a terrible waste of a pick. He's only IMPROVING? I immediate demand all-pro level of play out of anyone drafted in the top 10. Now, back to the quarterbacks boy we really missed on Mike Kafka huh!!!!!!!

Whoa. Turn down the douche, fellers. We should all be glad he's looking better now than he did in the Spring and hope for a continued improvement arc. Just reacting to the evidence as it happens. No need to get all bitchy about it. |

| Now to be fair, you might have to take some good natured ribbing over Haden. You didn't like the pick and said so many times, and yet you haven't seen the kid play one down when the games are for real, yet you're able to loosen your noose around his neck because of a write up or two. Now I understand you have that right, but most people try not to form opinions as fast as you do, and they don't tend to back off them as fast as you do, so busting balls is part of the game here in Forumland, |

Alo, I think everyone claiming he couldnt play in this league based on rookie mini-camp need to have their credentials examined. IMHO
