I returned to Cleveland for a week in March and I was driving into the Downtown area and I was horrified how empty and quiet it was and this was in the middle of a business day.
The town like many in the Midwest were based in industry especially steel and those jobs are gone and the city still hasn't rebounded.
What BE forgets is in the middle of how negative things have been for the town that stadium sold out every Sunday to watch them play despite how poorly they played.

Cleveland is football and football is Cleveland.

He's right about the town being on hard times. This is undeniable. Pretty sure I don't have to live there to know this.

He was obviously wrong (and a dickhead) for speaking up about it when those very people supported him.

Am I saying anything others haven't??

First of all you never have lived in Cleveland except for a brief stint when you were two if I remember correctly.
By that same measure when I was two I lived in Thousand Oaks, does this make me a lifetime California resident?
To say one city is better than another is just an opinion.
People who have spent there entire lives in Cleveland are very sensitive and supportive of there hometown and while there is no denying that Cleveland is on hard times is no cause for anyone to call anybody's hometown a shithole and you of all people should know when you attack anything sometimes it fights back.

Dan, I wasn't comparing cities. And I chided Bryalon for being an insensitive cocksucker and a loudmouth. I'm not sure what are you taking umbrage with here.

mz...not that you need it, but I got what you were saying.

IMO for all Cleveland was/is/will be it's never going to be NYC. And thank God for that!

Cleveland is more than the sum of its parts and Bray-bray just didn't seem to get it. He couldn't hack the fall from grace due to his poor play. Like many in the "me" generation, they have to blame someone else for their failures.

But, I would like to ask Bray-bray...if you were so wonderful and your new team thought so much of you...why did they bring in Santonio Holmes???

My guess is, you went from #1 in Cleveland to #3 or 4 (or worse) in NY. Better watch your back.

MZ isn't giving anyone anything to argue with unless they're just really determined. He's right: Cleveland went through a terrific renaissance, 10 straight years as an All-American City... and now it's the poorest city in the United States. Downtown has lost its groove. I've been stared down by hooded black teens in each of my last two visits... in front of my kids.

Never happened until recently. It was too busy downtown on Saturday nights before games. Now it's available for kids like that.

That said, I have a love for Cleveland that i've passed onto my kids. Staying downtown, touring the RRHOF, seeing the stadium from our hotel window, eating in a great steak house or spaghetti joint... we've had some of the best times of our lives together on those trips.

One of the biggest issues going on in Ctown right now is the lack of night life for urban black males. The thug kids overrun pretty much anyplace that's opened up and trying to keep an establishment for higher class blacks is downright tough.

If Ctown had a great hip hop environment for these guys they wouldn't care what else it has.
