I hope it isn't serious -- what a tough break that'd be for a guy playing on a RFA tender.

And for a team that would be left with an OLB and a DE playing ILB.

D'Qwell reportedly is afraid that he's suffered another torn pectoral muscle.

If he's out indefinitely, I imagine Scott Fujita would replace him at WILB. Either Goconog or Bowens could man the other inside spot.

Do you think we would see a line-up of Roth, Bowens, Gocong and Fujita? On running down's with Gocong at ILB and Fujita at OLB, than flip-flopping on passing down's?

Cleveland Browns' linebacker D'Qwell Jackson may have suffered another pectoral injury, source said | cleveland.com

Shit. This does not sound good. He was our one true ILB.

That's possible, though I'm not sure what the benefit is of toggling Gocong & Fujita between those spots. We probably could use some more athleticism inside, and Fujita moves better than Bowens. Trusnik's another possibility that I forgot to mention.

I'd love to see Benard take over one of the outside spots, but he might not be ready to be an every down guy.

Mangini said today that Bowens would move to ILB and team with Fujita. Roth and Gocong would still be the top OLBs. Barton, Vekune and Maiava would backup insides and Benard and Trusnik would backup on the outside.

Shit! This is some raw news. D'Qwell was having a good camp by all accounts and now this? I mean, I think we have better depth at LB that we're giving ourselves credit for. I don't think an injury to DQJ is the end of the world, it sucks because I think we all wanted DQJ to light it up big time this year and you know if this isn't a major injury he will bounce back regardless, even if it is. What kind of camp is Eric Barton having, maybe he could pick up some of the slack.

Damn.

The message is clear, we want to score more than 13.6 PPG this year.

WOOF WOOF WOOF!

I thought they would do it for scheme diversity and because they are both versitile. I always saw Fujita playing inside and Gocong outside anyway, but reading camp reports I heard that Gocong was playing alot at ILB and Fujita at OLB. I guess it was Mangini and Ryan just giving themselves some options incase something like this happened.
