They all said he looked good in the first half because he did. Really slung both of the intermediates over the middle and both were right on target. The RECEIVER tipped the ball and then caught it on the first one, not the defender.

He also handled the Ravens pressure really well, stepping up and finding his hot read.

Not as great after the half when the rain was really coming down, although the pick wasn't his fault (receiver fell). He earned the praise he got from the announcers and analysts.

Even if the receiver hadn't fallen down, the corner could have picked off that ball -- he sat on the route, but Clausen still chucked it in that direction.

However, it was a pretty good debut for Clausen, especially if you compare it to how some of the other rookies selected after him looked.

I'd disagree on pretty good debut (watched and stat line tells you it's not good by NFL standards). But when compared to guys selected after him, I'd agree. That just might go to show that Clausen was selected where he should have been, and was not a 1st round talent.

It was not a "good" performance it was adequate. Kafka went 3-7 and he is the new patron saint, and a guy I was on way before some. Alo even posted his vid and he had some horrendous underthrows on deep balls.

Clausen's best throw of the night was a gift, but he looked okay. I didn't like The Fever after watching him throw, he is not a natural passer but instead a good athlete in the MAC.

These guys are rookies and are all going to have a rough go at times.

In alot of the Notre Dame games I saw - I noticed Clausen throw a wobbly football when it was anything from intermediate to deep. I noticed all his short range passes were fastballs which I felt was unnecessary a good portion of the time. I liked his corner fade routes the best; and they were pretty safe considering the caliber athletes he got to loft those up to.

In 2008, he threw 17 INTs so I've had a tough time thinking superstar. That said, I thought his improvement in 2009 was significant. That STILL didn't equate to NFL "gotta have" IMO. I'm gonna give Charlie Weis some credit for turning 2008 YUCK into 2009 YAC for Golden Tate, which helped minimize Clausen's INTs considerably.

Did anyone notice the football wobbling in that Carolina game? I didn't see the game so I'm just asking. His new QB coach (Rip Scherer) is the same guy we had working with Charlie's Fryes. I guess if one liked Frye's game - this is really good news for Carolina fans.

I noticed it. The highlight play that was all the WR (thrown into double coverage) was a wobbler. There were many passes wobbling. But there was the wet factor going on, so we shall see if that was why. It was less than good imo, at least if this guy really was 1st round talent.

Who ever the "they" is, who said Clausen looked good in the 1st half must not have watched. I watched and it was not good, unless the definition of good is not crapping your pants in a pre-season game.

Bottom line is he will be holding a clipboard when the season starts along with McCoy, Kafka, Pike and all the others except Bradford. This wasn't a great QB class like a lot of people said. Holmgren seemed to know that and was looking for a project when he couldn't get to Bradford.

Fully agree with you, and I have been hardly sold on Bradford being a sure thing.

I wouldn't call it a great QB class. I think Bradford will be terrific. I think Clausen's rating should have been more in the 15-30 range, but that's my opinion given some time and space.

I think Kafka is going to be the Hasselbeck/Schaub of this draft, a guy someone gets for a could 2nd round picks in 2012-ish.

How did you feel about McCoy's (a guy you vouched for) debut?
