Agree a thousand times over. Fujita should be inside with Gocong. I'd bite the bullet on some mistakes of youth and start Benard opposite Roth. Benard is looking more and more like a player to me.

Last night, they were without David Bowens, which has a subtle but significant impact on their pass defense. If you sub him in for Kenyon Coleman, you get a lot more pass rush potential without risking the team getting gouged for a big gain on 3rd and long. And it allows you be more creative, lining up Roth and Bowens at various spots along the front seven.

Also, I suspect the Fujita at OLB experiment isn't going to last long. Fujita's a good player, but he simply isn't as natural a pass rusher as Roth, Bowens, Gocong, or Benard.

If Benard or Bowens starts at OLB, Fujita could kick inside, replacing the injured DQJ. I think that would be our best lineup, especially if Gocong continues to look good at ILB.

Man.. I am feeling so so much better about McCoy right now after watching some of this nightmare from Alex Smith.. Here is the roto times take on it.. I think they were kind to him in my opinon.
Alex Smith, QB, San Francisco 49ersSunday 8/15, 2:23 PM CT
Alex Smith was abysmal in San Francisco's first preseason game on Sunday afternoon, completing just 3-of-9 passes for 37 yards while throwing an interception against the Colts.

Our View: Meanwhile, David Carr come on in relief and looked spectacular. Smith could be nearing the end of the line as San Francisco's starter, though he will undoubtedly be the man in Week 1.

This is a guy who is in his 5th year. 1st round draft pick who is "supposed" to be the starter for a playoff caliber team. He was supposed to be "getting it"... Another one of our self poclaimed QB experts love children.. Again... I watched some of this disaster hoping Smith might be a good sleeper QB (backup type) for fantasy football.. However he looks like a bust.. I know, I know..and I will apply my own statement to this.. You cannot project too much from one preseason game.. but this guy is going into his 5th year and not just a rookie struggling. He made David Carr look like Joe Montana when he stepped in. Smith might just be playing himself out of the league if he does not turn it around fast..

I Saw that McCoys xray came back negative.. Great news. Hopefully he can get right back in there next week.

Anyone still laying money that Leinhart makes it as a starter in this league? Two staffs think he is a stiff.

Whatever skills he came in with don't translate well with that two cent head of his.

I asked this before - when is that last time USC produced a player that received a second contract in the NFL worth millions?

Ronnie Lott?

USC is so fucking overrated it makes me puke. Lots of college stars, few examples of longevity in the NFL.

Well Vegas, that's because Leinart didn't come into the NFL with skills that translated into NFL starter. Being surrounded by talent better than the rest of the PAC-10 doesn't count.

Last USC produced players that receiver contracts worth millions, I think you might be stretching it. Carson Palmer, Willie McGinest, and Keyshawn Johnson come to mind for me. But from the Peter Carrol era, you got Palmer and.....well I think that is it.

This is a joke, right?

You do know Cushing, Matthews, and Maualuga ALL went to the same school, right? AND CAME OUT IN THE SAME YEAR???

And of course Keith Rivers sucks for the Bengals, who have TWO terrific USC LBs. And Steve Smith sucks for the Giants. Ryan Kalil, Winston Justice, Mike Patterson, Reggie Bush, and so on.

Oh, but you wanted guys with "second contracts?"

Uh, like Boselli? McGinest? Palmer? Polamalu? Tatupu? Keyshawn Johnson? Brian Kelly? Billy Miller? Chris Claiborne?

Dude, it's fucking USC, for chrissakes. Nobody's saying they aren't one of the top college football programs or supplier to the pros. Nobody. Nowhere. Ever.

Go back to just dissing people.

And they have to quit buying their players for awhile.

To keep up with the thought of "things are looking good"...

I got to watch the Packers treat the Colts like step children.
I got to review the Rams beat Brady and company.

both games do have meaning to us even if they are preseason.

we beat the pack.(um I'm actually liking our defense cuz new and raw as some are , our secondary played heaps better)

we didn't beat the rams , but neither did the Patriots.

Granted it is preseason and teams are trying mixed packages and personnel...but..
when the Colts put Manning in down by 2 scores in the third quarter, they were tryin to win. Or at the very least watching Manning in a bad situation.. end result he fumbled and sucked.
I feel WAY better afte watchin these games .

Regardless of what big, booster-infested school we're slagging today... it's a funny line.
