Massaquoi - This kid looked very good in the first preseason game. He caught all 3 balls thrown his way, and his routes looked crisp. I know its only one game, but I can already see the huge improvement. Last year I felt many of his completitions were under the radar, and he benefited from a double teamed BE. This year no WR is going to get double teamed, so he needed a good first performance. Last year he got lost on a lot of routes, and didn't put out any effort to haul in passes that weren't in direct reach of him. He made a great adjustment on the 2nd ball he caught, and I can see he has a real future on the team. Robiskie - He had a nice TD grab from Wallace. However, the two passes prior were very catchable and I was disappointed he didn't bring them in. He was targeted 6 times and only brought in half of those with a pretty easy off the hands drop. We still have time for him to improve, but I'm not sold on him being ready yet. On most NFL teams he wouldn't be a #2, but its a long season for him to keep working. Cribbs - He was only targeted once, but I just can't see him being an impact in the passing game. His routes are still bad, he gets no seperation, and I think we just need to quit jamming him into a role he can't fill. Ben Watson - Its so nice to finally have a legitimate quality TE again. Watson is a good blocker, and he can make the catches. I know he is going to be the escape route for Delhomme. Royal - enough said. Blocker. Moore - I seen us lining him up on the outside on a few plays looking for the CB mismatch. I don't see him being a traditional TE at all, but he will be an effective hybrid out there on 3 WR sets much like Clark in Indy. Hopefully he can be a great 3rd down and end zone target to keep those drives alive. ------------ Hillis had a great 1 handed grab. I wish we could combine Vickers run blocking with Hillis hands, it would make a dangerous combination on the field. I hope he doesn't get lost on the offense with Vickers being the primary FB. ------------ The rest of the WRs looked pretty lost out there. So early to judge though with the 3rd and 4th string QBs tossing them balls. I still think in the division we are the weakest WR corps, but with a solid run game, we shouldn't have to have superstar crowded groups to pound out some wins. |

Yeah, the situation gets a boost from Watson, Moore, and Hillis, to be sure. They'll be very valuable to our passing success. Not every team has a clear-cut #1 WR. In fact, many good teams don't. New Orleans in particular really spreads it around. Hardesty can catch the ball, which means all of our backs can... and we have two very good pass-catching TEs, and Moore can also play a big WR, split out for mismatches. If Robiskie and Massoquoi can continue their improvement arc, I'd get the two of them, Mo and Robo, and then Hillis or Harrison on the field on passing downs. Sometimes Stuckey in the slot. The problems start if somebody gets hurt... and we're not very fast. Would love for Mitchell to make his way onto the field. |

You could only imagine how awesome we would be with kafka and bryant instead of how awful we are for picking haden, just awful. Gonna be a long season without those guys...

| I'm not sure about Robiskie, but I think Massaquoi, with coaching and time, could definitely develop into a legit #1. He certainly has the talent.

Uh, yeah. I would. No apologies anywhere in sight. And yes, our WR depth would be better. If you were agreeing with me, I apologize. Last edited by Shep; 08-16-2010 at 12:23 PM. |

| Not sure I buy that MoMass can become a legit #1 in todays NFL. You can't teach or develop speed, which he doesn't have. I still believe his ceiling is a vary viable and successful true #2 option.

Massoquoi has a nice speed/size ratio, though. Getting deep is often about more than speed (Rice, Fitzgerald)... so we'll see if he can do that. I do have concerns about the overall speed of our preferred passcatchers (Mo, Robo, Moore, Watson, Hillis). More positive vibes: Steve Doerschuk: It's only August, but Browns' offense looks good - Canton, OH - CantonRep.com |

Is this the same guy who said this about Ward, Shep Hall of Famer Join Date: Oct 2009 Location: L to the A Posts: 5,646 Rep Power: 8 I was flummoxed, too. In a league where safeties are become more and more deep cornerbacks... TJ Ward? But the truth is, I don't think the Browns are morons. I think they see a guy who CAN cover, a guy who maybe got caught up in some overstatement about being one-dimensional. Love, no,skeptical meh factor,huge....

He's not the fastest guy in the world, but he sure gets open all the time and makes the catch no matter where the ball is. While I don't think Massaquoi has the hands or talent of a Fitzgerald, Fitz would be a good model for Mo to attempt to base his game off of. |
