Default Mo Out for a Couple, No Montario Yet

Just read that Massoquoi will miss "a couple" practices resting his tweaked hammie. Hardesty will not return this week, as hoped, but is increasing his rehab regimen. Mangini hopes he'll be on the field next week.

Browns Practice Notes: 8/16

A deep position looks momentarily shallow and the Browns get a new Taurus...

BEREA, Ohio—One of the deeper positions on the team was a little thin during practice as Peyton Hillis and James Davis walked off the field at the same time with a trainer. Both were walking on their own power, but neither returned. With Montario Hardesty still not practicing the duties were left to Jerome Harrison and Chris Jennings. The duo alternated the majority of practice at the position.

Private Time: President Mike Holmgren was one-on-one with QB Colt McCoy while McCoy sat out of practice. Holmgren was doing a lot of gesturing as if giving McCoy some tips.

Quick Hits: QB Colt McCoy (hand), WR Mohamed Massaquoi (hamstring), OL Floyd Womack (undisclosed), RB Montario Hardesty (knee), P Dave Zastudil (knee), OL Tony Pashos (shoulder) and LB Titus Brown (undisclosed) did not practice in addition to the three PUP players DL Shaun Rogers, DL C.J. Mosley and DB Coye Francies…QB Jake Delhomme threw deep to WR Josh Cribbs for a touchdown as Cribbs got behind CB Joe Haden…WR Brian Robiskie caught a pass inside the 20 from Delhomme, beating CB Sheldon Brown…S Abe Elam intercepted Delhomme near the goal line…QB Seneca Wallace hit TE Evan Moore to the one yard line and then RB Chris Jennings went in for the score…OL John St. Clair was at right tackle and OL Shawn Lauvao at right guard with OL Tony Pashos and OL Floyd Womack sitting out practice.

New Guy: The Browns waived/injured WR Johnathan Haggerty They signed WR Taurus Johnson, who was on the Lions’ and Dolphins’ practice squad in 2009. The 6-1, 205 pound Johnson played at South Florida, the same school that rookie WR Carlton Mitchell attended. Johnson is wearing 13.

If no one claims Haggerty, he will be placed on Injured Reserve and miss the season. Haggerty is an undrafted free agent from Southwest Oklahoma State who has looked good in the preseason. He was injured near the end of the Packers’ game with what looked as though an ankle injury.

In related news, David Veikune missed the Packers game. And no one gives a shit.

With Pontbriand out all summer from an opportunity drill injury (switching to ILB), Veikune was handling long-snapping duties in Berea. Turns out, Pontbriand recovers Friday morning, and is able to suit up against the Pack.

"Sorry David. Go ahead and finish washing the kids camp bus and we'll talk when I get back from Green Bay."

So we waived Haggerty? That's raw news. He was looking really good for us in the pre-season so far.

He was put on waivers/injured. If he clears waivers he will go on IR for the season. Injury must be pretty severe.

Most teams to this with young borderline guys instead of keeping them on their roster until the final cut. Most clear waivers but every once in awhile a team sticks it up your ass like Jax did to us last year.

Right side of the line AND Massoquoi missing... offense might be a little bumpy.

Drink a lot of fluids, Ben, Evan, and Jerome.

I read Momass will not play tonight and Cribbs will start in his place.. Wow is that stinkin scary or what.. Cribbs.. Really? Our depthm WR is pretty pathetic. But then if anyone needs work.. it's Cribbs.
