Probably a good call, Y. My ankles are now arthritic and I've had two back operations. I look a lot healthier than I feel!

Sorry about Lauvao, whatever it is. Hope things work out. We've all been there.

St. Clair was back for the evening practice and is fine. Pashos is doing well but like Bowens and Rogers, you don't submit veterans with cronic injuries to two-a-day practices. Word is he will start practicing when they break camp next week.

Besides, preseason is about evaluating personnel. I want to see what Yates and Kooistra can do. They may be called upon this year so the team needs to know if they can handle it.

So, sorry, we really don't need you. Give the Jock and pads back to your son and sit this one out.

On Lauvao: questioning his absence is unfair. Kareem Jackson missed the first pre-season game because of a personal matter, but he didn't catch any flack because the team disclosed that it was due to a death in the family.

And I'm much happier with the Lauvao pick after comparing his play to fellow 3rd round OG Jon Asamoah. I thought Asamoah was NFL-ready, but he repeatedly was overpowered at the POA by fellow rookie Corey Peters.

While Asamoah moves better than Lauvao and arguably has more upside, the former Illinois OG needs a redshirt year to get stronger. We need a starter now and got Lauvao 20+ picks later, so it looks like we got the right guy.

You mean by me? Hell, I have no idea what his issue was and wouldn't judge it. Missing an entire week leading up to a game for a rookie potential starter is unusual, though. But I wasn't being mean about it.

No way we were gonna start two rookies on the right side.

BUT... I think we're gonna need to draft a right tackle sometime soon, maybe as high as round 2. From where I sit today, I see a quarterback in round one. That means we'll need to find a speed receiver in either round 3 or through f/a. We need a DE and maybe an OLB soon (but I have high hopes for Benard).
Since when is 3rd round high for a guard? Brian Bulaga was a 1st rounder this year..

It's not about you. Rutigliano also kvetched about it on the STO show last night. His complaint was more about not disclosing what's up, but I doubt Lauvao wants everyone kept up to date on his personal business.

Exactly Alo! Almost everyone has taken a personal day from work, so I don't know what the big deal is?

I think we need a late 1st to early 2nd round tackle next draft to solidify the right, then over the next few years a couple of 4-6 round guys to groom as backups at center, tackle and guard, maybe even a second late 1st to early 2nd to groom as a backup to both tackle spots.

Gabe, 'Spec, thanks for the board.
Gabe, thanks A LOT for all the time you put in to coding and keeping the place up and running.
Thanks a lot more if you do anything in Java, christ that was the single worst programing language I studied which I hated beyond anything one could possibly hate, including in-laws and the Steelers. God was I ever happy to get a B in that class then burn my textbook.
But anyways....
Just because a friend buys an exotic sports car and lets you drive it, even if you talked about buying one, it didn't mean you helped him get it.
Same here.
We ALL pissed and moaned about Lumnuts and talked about a new board, just because we talked about it doesn't mean we did a damn thing about it.
SO AGAIN....
Thanks Gabe and Spec for making this place happen.

I dig Mississippi State offensive tackle Derek Sherrod. It's way too early to project where he'll go, but he looks like a 2nd round guy.

I moved all of the negative posts by both sides into the other forum under the title Another Boring Fight. If you want to continue that discussion please do it in that thread, but if you want to talk about our OL you are more than welcome to stay and converse here.

Oh, Bernie... I started a thread about linemen. Danamal was the one who spun it the other way. Do you mean to put it under Danamal? I didn't say anything mean or negative and fired zero personal attacks so I wanna keep my file clean. This was Danamal: "Please by all means, I cant speak for others but this is your perfect opportunity to live out your fantasy of a career in the NFL,please go get on the field for a series,we will all support and talk about your performance you have my word."

Nothing about the line personnel. Personal attack. all should go in his file. Thanks.

And I want Lauvao and Womack on the right side (!).

From last weeks preseason game I am not AT ALL happy with our backup situation. Maybe a decent vet will become available. I'm not convinced our backups can do even an average job after last week. I hope to see some improvement in the coming weeks or this could be a big problem if we have multiple OL injuries during the season.
