Sometimes I close my eyes and see Vickers and Hillis in the backfield, Cribbs goes into motion then takes the snap, V&H take the lead blocking and Josh, with only secondary to beat, goes 57 yards for a td...... Thoughts like that leave me warm and fuzzy inside.....

So what do you call my "dream" where I see Jamal Lewis running into the line on first and second down, followed by DA throwing a three yard pass over Royal's head on 3rd and ten?

This is really Cribbs' 3rd year playing WR. And the first was not too serious. Plus this is the first time he had a QB who actually knows where his numerals are on his jersey. 900 yds off offense this season.

It's like McCartney could also play the drums... but I wouldn't make him the drummer. I question whether Cribbs will ever be a great WR in the traditional sense. I think he's a more of a third-down back in motion or a Wildcat QB. I think he's a specialty player on offense, but I don't think we have to be quite so miserly with specialty plays. The NFL's losing some of its stuffiness in that area. Holy cripes, watch an Oregon game. It's one long specialty formation and it's unstoppable. |

Agreed. If he's improving at WR as you've observed Tom, great. I was just "clobbering" our coaching staff to realize where Cribbs will benefit our team the most, and over-use him in that area. If it's specialty/Wildcat/Flash/Cyclone/Belichick will never see this coming/WR - play him where he helps us win football games. He's a special player, get him the ball. I can see Cribbs being very dangerous running the type of route stuckey ran this week where he can catch the ball in stride just running a short drag route across the field.. then it's a long handoff type pass and he's a runningback at that point.. Those type of routes would make him very dangerous.. IF your going to have him play receiver.. I am not thrilled with his skills in that department.. keep him where he excells.. (not WR)
