That isn't what a DE in a 3-4 does. DE is stilled expected to hit the offensive linemen head on, and watch the play to make sure the running back doesn't come through on either side of them. Also, they're expected to hold their block so that the offensive linemen can't get out and block a linebacker. So other than sure passing down, Rogers isn't going to get to freelance, or do what he wants to just go at the QB. The main difference for him is that he'd now be asked to only tie up one guy instead of two.

"every play" for Rogers is only passing downs already so like I said
