The restaurant part/story, of Leinart over heard openly complaining to friends while in a restaraunt about how unfair his benching was happened a few years ago when he got benched in favor of Warner. It's supposedly true (I wasn't there, so it's kind of a TMZ moment). As to the eating cheese and drinking wine at the time, I think that part of the tale is a bit tongue in cheek.

I took it as a blend of truth and spitballs, M... so I was treating it as such. All in good fun both ways.

I think any drafted quarterback has SOME expectations to not suck. Or put another way, if you want to be treated like the QB of the future, you have to look the part at least a little.
and it looks like fry will have a much longer NFL career compared to Quinn.

It also looks like Leinart might have the same career as Frye. Right now their career stats look like this:

Frye
26 games, 69.8QBR, 17 TDs, 29 INT, 4,154 yards, and 6.1 Y/A

Leinart
29 games, 70.8QBR, 14 TDs, 20 INT, 3,893 yards, and 6.5 Y/A

One of those guys has had far better weapons a on much better team.

As hard as it is to wrap my head around the qb mess of last year its even tougher to think that Frye was part of the debacle also. Jd and Senaca look like hall of famers compared to the crap we've been dealing with at qb. Make s McCoy really a non issue. Hate to see a 3rd rounder not come through but its still so early on in 1st year. The front office told us we wouldn't see him start this year so they must of known he'd struggle mightily. Truthfully he's the perfect #3 qb, as long as we don't need him to play this year.

Ya and don't forget "the great jersey throwing in your face Coach Parcells" when Antonio Bryant was in Cleveland. I think the jersey throwing moment was the best play of Antonio's career.

Frye for sure had the better weapons in his (un)remarkable compared to Fitzgerald, Boldin, et al.

I am sure the FO expected struggles from McCoy. He's coming from a spread offense that was primarly run out of the shotgun (just like Alex Smith was and Tim Tebow). So taking snaps from under center and getting into his drops is something he's having to learn (or relearn). Just like those other two guys, there is a learning curve and struggles.

Its seems people are reading into the whole situation way too much.

Fully agree with you. If futures were set/judged on rookie players, not just QB, based on a couple of preseason games, there'd be a lot of great players who would have never played.

Of course CLE once had Marc Bulger before STL and quickly gave up on him too.
