While I repsect Jim Brown and everything he did as a Brown and some of the things he's done since the return. I hate to say it but he's increasingly becoming something that all older people go through. Someone you can't fully trust what they are going to say when they open their mouth. Therefore I totally understand Holmgren to want to start reducing his role for the team. I don't think being a hall of famer earns you a lifetime of being able to do what ever you want. Now I understand if Brown feels this is an insult and he doesn't want to attend the ceremony. That's his right.

JB was the greatest on the field. Off the field not so much. I understand in later years he has softened up and tried to polish his off the field image and be a mentor to the team since it's return. None of us really know what goes on behind closed doors or what was said to him since last years upheaval so what ever he decides to do is his choice like Inspecta said.

I need to read some more information on this...I get the impression that it has to do with a lot of things not just his "position" with the Browns organization. The man is certainly a legend and deserving of our respect and recognition. But, does that mean that he automatically should be employed? Exactly what is he OWED?? He moved beyond the Browns thing to try his hand in Hollywood, and who knows what else. And when all that other stuff was gone, the City of Cleveland and the Browns organization welcomed him back with open arms. They have gone above and beyond to give him celebrity and honor. And he is now turning his back on the team because he doesn't like the new role he was asked to take on? What exactly can a rather old and not exactly able-bodied man do? He can enjoy his status and the love of Cleveland with honor and respect, but that doesn't seem to be enough. |

I loved what he did as a player, never loved his opinions, agenda or big mouth. At this point in his life he should accept what the situation is. I really don't care either way if he shows or doesn't, he'll be inducted one way or the other and his legacy as the greatest RB will always be there. Sad for him he feels he needs to hold a grudge against the Browns after all these years of paying him for doing what exactly? What's up with his subtle threat of opening pandora's box? |

If Holmgren's new role for Brown is in fact some sideshow, Walmart greeter type, then he has every right to be offended and not want to show up. However, he should be the bigger man and show up. And when Holmgren's court he's holding quickly dashes over to catch a glimpse of Cleveland's one and only Big Show, Brown can casually remind him -with just a wink- that the only reason the Walrus has a job in Cleveland now is because of what he did on the field. Otherwise, Holmgren would be begging Ozzie for a job in Baltimore, if he wanted anything to do with the Browns. |

Just remember, Jim Brown followed Modell to Balt and worked for them. He also supported Lebrons bolt from CLE. Brown wants loyalty from CLE but doesn't always show it to CLE unless there is something in it for him.

They say old Jimbo could of been a great olympian shot putter after seeing how far he tossed that woman of the balconey. Great running back. As a person he's basically a scumbag. """But for all of Brown's good deeds and athletic prowess, there has been a dark side to him, too. He was frequently accused of violent crimes, primarily toward women, and though he was not found guilty, they have hurt his image. An 18-year-old accused Brown of forcing her to have sex after giving her whisky, but a jury found him innocent of assault and battery in the 10-day trial in 1965. He was accused of throwing a model from a balcony in 1968, but when the 22-year-old woman refused to name Brown as her assailant, the charge of assault with intent to murder was dropped. He was acquitted of assaulting a man after a traffic accident in 1969. He was fined $500 and spent a day in jail after beating up a golfing partner. He was charged with rape, sexual battery and assault in 1985, but the charges were dropped when the 33-year-old woman gave inconsistent testimony. The next year he was arrested for allegedly beating his fiancée after accusing her of flirting. He spent three hours in jail, but three days later the 21-year-old woman said she didn't want to prosecute. In 1999, Brown was convicted in Los Angeles of smashing the window of his 25-year-old wife Monique's car, but was acquitted of making terrorist threats against her. The judge sentenced him to three years' probation, stripped him of his driver's license for a year, and ordered him to attend special counseling for domestic batterers."""" Thats copied from an espn article I mays well add he is a racist also. |
