Maybe they saw BMac as a player that reached his ceiling and was maxed out. He was below average and wasn't going to get any tougher against the run. He may end up as a fairly decent coverage guy in a 4th corner/dime coverage role but he can't even play special teams for you.

There's got to be plenty of young guys out there that have a higher ceiling and have shown potential to be an all around DB. I think there are some moves to be made and one would be signing a CB and releasing a LB. My only concern is they will keep both Bowens and Barton and release Titus Brown. I'd only hope they can get him back to the practice squad.

I also think Barton or Bowens may be in trouble when DQJ get healthy and is ready to play. I could see Bowens playing in a sub role for a few games then going on IR when DQJ gets back.

My first reaction is that Barton is filling in until Jackson is healthy, so maybe two weeks.

I wouldn't be surprised if Bmacs twitter incident played a roll in his cutting.
