Well I reckon Green isnt an option for us then. No way Mangini drafts a guy that was suspended for four games.
I do like him though maybe Heckert or Holgrem will save us.

I gotta admit, the prospect of A.J. Green in the first followed by Pat Devlin in the 2nd/trading back into the 1st sounds TIGHT!

I don't know about Devlin...He could of been a senior this year at PSU guiding his team to a major bowl, instead he transfers to Deleware because he lost out on the QB competition a couple years back? Sounds like a quitter to me. How does one quit on JoePa?

Quarterbacks have to play. They're measured by starts. Kids transfer high schools and colleges to get playing experience all the time (Corp, Mallett). We had two great QBs at Westlake, one left and lost his junior year, dominated passing league tourneys, and got a commitment from Arizona State without a down of varsity football. He'll start this year, but he already has his scholarship.

Not sure how that fit, but it's a crazy story. Point is, RBs with few starts? Great. Less wear and tear. QBs with few starts? Not so good. Teams would LOVE to see 30 starts on that resume, but at least 20.

I get your point (except for Mallett - he transferred because of Rich Rod), but my point is at some point the level of competition has to be a factor as well. Playing against the boys in 1AA or whatever they call it now is not the same as playing against the big boys of 1A at Penn State like Alabama this week, then Ohio State, Iowa, Wisconsin and a major bowl game later.

Not everyone that transfers to Deleware is going to be the next Flacco.

Yeah, but I bet Flacco going high in the draft was a great transfer recruitment tool for Delaware. I assume they run a pro style offense that QBs like?

If I'm a kid, I don't wanna risk NOT having a chance to show what I can do for at least one full season.

You're right! The year after Flacco got drafted the back up QB at Ohio State transferred to Deleware for his last two years but that didn't turn out so good for him, I forgot his name and so did everyone else.

Flacco didn't take snaps from under center as much as teams would have liked, but he did do a little bit of it at Delaware.

I can't form an opinion on a QB prospect without seeing his glutes and biceps, so I don't have much to say about Devlin. He doesn't have a Flacco arm, but not many QBs do.

I hear ya there man, unfortunately he's lacking a bit in that department but those things can be trained. Locker didn't just suddenly sprout baseball bi's and cannonball glutes overnight, afterall.

Can Cleveland Browns sign the player without going through Draft system. Just interested to know.

No, not unless they go undrafted and choose to sign with Cleveland.

Maybe Dennis can do some recon and find out who they're scouting.
