If Benard keeps ascending (sacks almost every game)... and DQJ stays healthy? Suddenly our linebacking crew of Benard, Gocong, Jackson, and Roth looks pretty damn good.

Make the trade for Kolb, draft a dominant WR in round one and another right side blocker in three, and make the big f/a signing on the DL. Bam.

The problem with that is there really isn't any big 3-4 DE's available in free agency next year. Marcus Spears and Jaques Cesaire are pretty much IT for the big names. Sure there's Ngata but virtually NO way the Ratbirds let him go. They'll franchise him before letting that happen.

Which brings me to what i'd love to see. Rogers+5th to NYJ for a 2nd. Trade that 2nd and a 2nd/3rd in 2012 for Kolb. Sign Spears and Cesaire in FA. Maybe grab a RT(Jared Gaither, anyone?). 1st: ILB(Hightower), 2nd: WR(Hankerson?), 3rd: FS, 4th: WR(Matt Szczur), 6th: Punter(Eppleman). D.L. is a bit more solidified, O.L. is solidiefied, ILB is tight, two new weapons added for our new franchise QB, the missing piece to our backfield being elite. Bam, that leaves RB, passrushing OLB, another WR and a passrushing/runstopping DE in 2012.

Great stuff, KoK. I'm in. If we get Kolb, we're looking for a serious WR, a right tackle, and a high-end defensive lineman on my chart. That's if the Benard-Gocong-Jackson-Roth crew works out well.

If you can go into an offseason looking for three high-end pieces and then a few on the next tier? Good stuff. You can usually fill two starter spots through free agency.

I'd be awfully tempted by a shot at a dominant WR like Green, Jones, the ND kid... somebody who scares the shit out of defenses.

I'd be tempted too BUT we have the guy who locked onto DeSean Jackson in the 2nd, talked his coach into waiting it out and grabbed that absolute steal. You couple that with a deep WR class and it's a matter of locking onto the steal of round two. Although if by some miracle Hightowers stock drops(maybe he'll pull a poor 40 ala Spikes?) flipping it would work great too. If we could grab Green and Hightower? I'd wet myself.

I'd like a DE as well BUT I don't see Spears and Cesaire being super high priced. We'd have to pay well but we could grab them up. That buys time in grabbing a premier DE. Gaither no doubt would be costly BUT Thomas-Steinbach-Mack-Lauvao-Gaither for a few years? Perfect. I guess what i'm trying to say is pay well for 3 really good players instead of bringing in 15 bottom tier guys.
