You're right. Now that Veikune's gone, we don't have a very good backup ILB.

Rodney Harrison.

You think losing him to ST's injuries wouldve been no big deal? When Lawyer Milloy was there he also played ST's.

The Browns absorb losses differently but starters are starters for a reason. ST's play a big role and ours are pretty damn good for a reason. We invest talent on them.

Back when Winslow was hurt on the hands team vs Dallas I was very confused by Browns fans harping on Butch. I mean are you kidding me - he had the best hands on the team, of course he plays on the hands team. Duh.

Haden plays a good gunner. He also returns kicks. Of course you play him there. Guys getting gassed? What? These guys aren't couch potatoes drinking beer and eating KFC every night. I'm not saying we use Cribbs as a gunner and then have him run fly patterns and it's good he is not playing coverage teams full time. But come crunch time I'd guess he is on coverage units late in close games.

Football is rough. Wins are hard to come by. Big players make big plays in big games.

Actually Vegas, no I don't think losing Harrison or Milloy would impact NE much (and they did lose Harrison several times for several games and didn't miss a beat). We have seen time and time again NE replace guys in their secondary and they don't miss a beat. This is a team that could throw Troy Brown at a CB and their D keeps rolling.

The Browns do abvor losses differently, because depth is still low for them. I agree ST play a big roll. Though I think w/o Cribbs CLE's ST are average at best. Maybe Haden can fill that roll on the punt team.

I never had an issue with the Winslow one, because as you said, it was the hands team. That's one ST play he was in on, that you use maybe twice an entire season. That's not playing every ST play plus every offensive snap.

I will have to see Haden do it in real games, and I am okay with him doing it. He's the 3rd corner, so he isn't going to be on the field as much as Ward. Yes guys get gassed. I know you have been watching CLE's D for the last several years. They are on the field all day. A guy that just ran 100 yards between 3 prior plays and now has to run another 50 gunning is not going to be as fresh or as quick as say a guy coming off the bench (Cribbs) or a guy who just played only a 2nd or 3rd down (Haden).

I don't like seeing a rookie, who you have starting, and there is zero valid depth behind him, out there playing full time D and asking him to play ST. Its asking for extra hits and additional risk of injury. CLE cannot affort to lose Ward to an injury.

Blake Costanzo is good at it let him keep rolling, its really all he's good at. Save Ward and Haden for D. Even if they aren't "GREAT" this year I believe they will be next year so why risk the injury? Let the special teamers play special teams and guys like Cribbs do what they do

And about 1400 return yards from kickoffs and punt returns...Seems like a funny way to get 2,000 + all-purpose yards.

As a selfish Browns (and Cribbs, obviously) fan, I like this move. I do recall however, Cribbs saying this was his favorite position to play during games. I believe the statement was what helped ignite or stoke the Cribbs @safety campaign.

Hopefully it works.
