He likes to keep his expectations low so we don't get disappointed.

He likes to give us a little perspective like a slap in the face...but he means well and he's just as much a fan as the rest of us!

Although Wombat, I do take exception to the "Gentlemen" part!!
My bad, HG..... I'd edit it if I could!

Are you pissed because we cut Veikune?
Considering I just called Veikune 1/2 of the LB busts that ManKok drafted, no. I'm only pissed that we got him and Maiava begin with. I never once liked either pick. I'm much more-so pissed we cut B-Mac-who was at least a serviceable player-in a position that we now have little depth in.

Daboll deserves it until he can prove otherwise, simple as that. He is definitely part of the reason our offense broke multiple records of suckiness last year... I think we broke the record for games without an offensive touchdown and drives without crossing the 50, among others. He's definitely improved but we're still going to have some "WTF, Daboll" moments during the game.

I am very, very happy to be proven wrong on Delhomme.... and in my defense, at the time we signed him, who thought he was going to have the preseason he did? I'm almost sad he's performed well enough that we won't see more of Wallace.

Mangini I don't think I ever personally slammed.... though I've never said I completely trust in him, either.

As I often like to do, this is more of a "lets keep things realistic" than "lets hate on the browns" post.

...

Ok, so its really "lets keep things realistic AND hate on Daboll." You got me.

That's fair, but you'll get those out of anybody. It's year 2 and I'm sure there will still be growing pains, but I expect a pretty big jump. Let's hope so! It's finally starting to set in that football is about to start.

Yes.... its about to start and I'm doing my best to not get excited about it.

Now excuse me while I go curl up in a corner and chant "Abe Elam and Eric Barton are still starting" to myself over and over again.

Tampa Bay and Kansas City will be good teams to start out the year with. They're both winnable. But.... week 3 will be the true test. By week 3 our team will be settled and in the swing of things, and I would expect us to be a little more consistent, especially the rookie-filled secondary. Furthermore, we're against our old "friends", the Ravens. If we could somehow beat Baltimore on week 3, that's when I'll write up a huge ass post about how our brownies can curb stomp anyone. You won't see me doing that now, though. I need to see some proof, first.
