My guess: They bring in Ron Rivera. He's been a hot candidate for several years, he's worked on Andy Reid's staff and the guy can flat out build top 5 defenses. My prediction is they bring him in as HC and to build the D(Remember, Holmgren said he wants an elite D and running game for this team) while Holmgren/Haskell build the offense for him and mold him into an elite HC. I don't see them bringing in a retread nor Holmgren stepping onto the sidelines. So far he has been all about Heckert and Mangini doing their thing and allowing Heckert to make his mark and put his stamp on this franchise. I believe that stamp will be Heckert grabbing a highly touted 1st time head coach. |

Not a bad call, King. Whatever it takes to get the job done. There always seems to be a "transition team" that gets the raw deal in the end. I kinda feel that way about Mangini, because I still give him credit for cleaning house and pointing things in the right direction. Things were bad, and even though it looks bad now, progress has been made. But in the pros, winning is the bottom line. I just want a winner, as does every other Browns fan. Whoever gets that done will be a "hero" in this town. Again, good stuff, King. |

Thanks Bolt. I agree, Eric did some good things, cleaned house and started us in the right direction. Ideally he goes on a little run this year saving his job. I hope so and i'm pulling for the guy but if he doesn't win I don't see him sticking around. That's unfortunate for him but it's not personal, just business. These guys aren't going to hang their hats on someone from someone elses system and stake their reputation on it. I can't blame them on one hand, you give someone a chance and if wins don't happen what're ya gonna do? It kind of paints them into a corner. On the one hand, hey you guys sold us on this guy halfway that he's the right guy and we're turning around. The only way out of that corner is to say "I have a plan. Unfortunately while a good coach in his own right my plan and his plan just aren't going to work out. So i'm going to go get a guy who fits with what my plans are." Enter Rivera. There's several reasons that lead me to that name. As I said above good candidate every year, off the Andy Reid tree sorta, can build great defenses, has experience in WCO type systems as well as the 46 D, 4-3 D and the 3-4 D, intelligent, a motivator ect. One of the main things that lead me to defense is as I said, Holmgren wants Heckert to make his mark. He can't do that by Mike jumping over top of him to coach. BUT Mike as we seen is itching for some action. The solution? Keep/hire a defensive guy. Anyone whose paid attention knows, if you bring in a defensive guy during their build that usually takes more precedence. Offensive the same. So Mike gets to help out and get some action through helping the person build an offense while the new guy can watch and learn some offensive strategy as he builds the defense. There's also talk about continuity. Well on offense obviously big changes need made. Continuity means continuing to suck ass. On defense though, Ryan is on the right track. Assuming he can't land his dream gig as the Raiders HC it'd be good to keep he and Cox around. Out of that criteria? There isn't too many as good for the job as Rivera. He was the one I found fitting the criteria the most and provided we keep Ryan around there's continuity which we want. |

Actually, no. I almost never watch TV. I only turn it on to watch football or play a videogame. I also almost never watch movies. I've seen one this whole year. I don't think I've watched a standard television program in years now...

That's a pity, Sons of Anarchy and Chuck just started back up so we've got something worth watching at least 2 days a week.
