Defensive player of the year last year.. Charles Woodson..CB for Green Bay.. I think that shows how critical this position is right now in football. Haden had a very good game yesterday.. and actually he has had three pretty good games. ..Had a great breakup to force a punt at the end of the game yesterday.. I did not hear his name called when giving up receptions... He looks like he's going to be a very good one. It won't be long before he is locking onto the other teams top guys. But you do not throw rookies to the wolves either.. That's dumb.. It seems that they have a plan for him and it's working.. Seriously.. we are three games into his career. It takes more than 3 weeks to learn ANY new job. Training camp is not the same as realtime game experience. I have had training courses then real job experience..Most of you probably have too..they are not the same.

T.J. Ward would be a few hundred votes ahead of Haden right now. In fact, Ward would be right near the top, I think. WARD: Leads team with 27 tackles. 22 solos is more than double anyone else. Also a TFL and a PD. HADEN: 8 tackles, 2 PD. Last edited by Shep; 09-28-2010 at 05:55 PM. |

It's a long season..It would be great to have EITHER one mentioned at the end of the year. It's really hard when your team does not win though. People just are not watching.

Tackles: 8 Solo: 6 PD: 2 Kyle Wilson- Tackles: 12 Solo: 10 PD: 3 Penalties: I lost count at 6 PI calls. Devin McCourty- Tackles: 14 Solo: 13 PD: 1 Kareem Jackson- Tackles: 16 Solo: 11 PD: 3 Patrick Robinson- Tackles: 5 Solo: 4 PD: 1 Now 4 out of 5 are starting in a #1 or #2 role. Haden is the 3rd cornerback. Despite NOT being in one of the starting spots he's STILL putting up good numbers in pass deflections. He has one less deflection than Jackson and Wilson despite playing half the snaps they are. Though Jackson and Wilsons numbers in context tell a different story..... They're being targeted. Teams have keyed in on Wilson and it's blatantly obvious if you send the player Wilson is covering deep? It's 70/20 you'll get a PI call your way. Those times that don't? The WR makes the play anyways and Wilson has to tackle them. Jackson has just plain been unspectacular. He lets his man get open enough to make the catch then tackles him. Good for a stat sheet, bad for your defense making stops. Which is why you can't judge cornerbacks based off of tackle numbers. The worst CB's in the league have high tackle amounts. That's not a good thing from that position. You don't WANT that. You want the player preventing his man from getting the ball. No catch='s no tackle='s low tackle numbers. It would appear to me Haden and Robinson are right where they should be as rookie cornerbacks. It also appears Wilson, Jackson and McCourty are ALL struggling. The key part of determining that from a stat sheet? Their amount of SOLO tackles. They are being HEAVILY targeted. You DON'T want your cornerbacks having alot of tackles. |

I don't know... I keep hearing talk-talk-talk about corners who can help in run support, and that's supposed to be one of Haden's strengths. There are some guys starting on better teams and putting up more numbers than Haden. I am not happy about that at all. To be a corner drafted that high, he has to be the kind of special you can't keep on the bench... and would want as the guy covering the other team's best receiver. Revis did his rookie year. Right now, Haden doesn't even make the all rookie team. |

NE generally drafts well. Let's see how they are playing the back half of the season when the have some games under their belt. I expect veteran recievers to toast young CB's. You try to get them some help..but with so many muliple reciever sets.. it's tough.
