2: It's obvious we had to blow the roster up and rebuild. With a GM we could have had max return on our trades and RAC&Rolls knew the roster, including the QB's better than anyone. Keeping him around to at a minimum let us know the ins and outs with a GM would have us a season ahead of where we are. I doubt we would have wasted time on Quinn/Anderception and McDaniels would be begging us for an OC job right now after blowing the draft on Quinn. You know what's funny Tom? I remember the big bitch was RAC wouldn't play the young guys, always played the overpriced vets that gave Savage a chubby. It's pretty obvious why at this point, isn't it? They fucking SUCKED. Most of them aren't even in the NFL anymore. On the flipside he's showing in KC right now that he's STILL one of the best 3-4 DC's in the NFL with a defenses FILLED with young guys. Something to think about. |

Ooh, ouch, Thomas!!! (Smith actually did look really bad today. Clausen didn't look very good either. Add in the Browns' loss and I'm blanking out Sunday to remember Saturday, which would have been PERFECT if a certain oafish quarterback didn't do an amazing Derek Anderson imitation.) |

Well my whole point was he deserved another season to find out. Especially after it was discovered he'd ask for this or that and Savage would say "no." I agreed then and before that Phil needed to go. I disagreed that Crennel should have been fired on the spot by Lerner and felt bad it went down like that. What's done is done but still... You remember an Article that came out after Sewage was bounced stating Lerner had experts come in and comb through the roster? I recall it and they found something like 1% of the roster were starter caliber players in the NFL. Well we're seeing that right now aren't we? The question I had was WTF is ANY coach supposed to do with THAT?! I think that's what Tom(correct me if i'm wrong) is getting at with Mangini. He came in inheriting the same roster, a roster as we just seen today is STILL suffering from Phil Savages reign. Even though we're still trying to fix Savages wrongs we're being competitive right now. We ARE starting to transition and it's time to put the pitchforks away for now. Once all Savages shit is scrubbed from the walls are when the clock should probably start. |

crennel's a good DC; he's just not a good HC. he and dick lebeau were placed in similar circumstances and achieved similar results: both were asked to take over inept franchises, and neither was able to turn it around, and both went back to being DCs and succeeded again. it wasn't so much that crennel stopped being a good coach; he was just being asked to do more than he could do. you can't ask a cheetah to be a giraffe. or, with more representative animals, you can't ask an elephant to be a lion. |

LOL on the more "representative" animals! Poor RAC! I agree with the bolded part. Regardless of RAC's abilities and his situation, it's possible he was never going to be a good HC for us. Sometimes it takes a change of locale. And I think that's what Mangini needed as well. I'm glad RAC is doing well. And I don't think anyone ever questioned his abilities as a DC...but he's not (and likely never will be) an HC. |

Speaking of young QBs... really, VY? Again? Vince Young's benching possibly traces to preparation Posted by Mike Florio on September 27, 2010 8:28 AM ET Last week, after Titans coach Jeff Fisher removed quarterback Vince Young from a 19-11 loss to the Steelers, we theorized that the move was less of a benching and more of a rescue. As it turns out, it may have been more of a benching, after all. Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports that Young missed or showed up late for at least two meetings in the days preceding the Week Two game. (One absence was excused.) Unnamed sources said that Young's "overall approach lacked the seriousness it needed." This week, Young made a "renewed commitment" to preparation, per Wyatt. "I knew all eyes would be watching,'' Young said. "My teammates, I wanted to show them guys that it was definitely a rough week, but . . . that I put that in past and got myself prepared to play so we could get a victory. I wanted to be consistent.'' And he was. Though his numbers weren't stellar, Vince was steady, with 16 attempts (only four in the first half), 10 completions, 118 yards, one touchdown. "You guys always ask, 'How's Vince matured?' Well, what he did today shows you,'' guard Jake Scott said, according to Wyatt. "He did what a professional does. He had a bad week last week -- there is no other way around it. But he came out and played a great game and made plays when he needed to. He protected the ball and did everything we asked him to do. It was really just a professional performance on his part.'' And so the Titans are 2-1 and tied with the Colts and Texans atop the AFC South. |

I still can't believe the 49ers lost to KC... Not just lost but got spanked.. San Fran is a major disspointment.. I thought they would be a lock to win their weak division. Seattle looks to get it by default.
