BEREA, Ohio (AP)—Cleveland Browns quarterback Jake Delhomme(notes) has been cleared to practice Thursday after missing the past two games with a sprained right ankle. Coach Eric Mangini said as long as there are no setbacks, the 35-year-old will start on Sunday at home against the Cincinnati Bengals. Delhomme has been inactive the past two weeks after injuring his ankle in Cleveland’s season opener at Tampa Bay. It was his debut with the Browns. “He’s our starter,” Mangini said. “If he’s ready to start, he’ll start.” Mangini said Delhomme will be limited in practice on Thursday. Backup Seneca Wallace(notes) filled in for Delhomme in losses to Kansas City and Baltimore. Mangini likes what Wallace brings to the Browns, but he feels Delhomme, who signed as a free agent with Cleveland in March, gives his team the best chance to win. Delhomme worked out in the club’s indoor facility on Wednesday with trainers |

Good Good. Wallace is a good guy, but his accuracy over 10 to 15 yards is awful, and you can't win in this league by dink and dunking without some shifty & speedy receivers (New England, Tom Brady to Wes Welker, Edleman). Lets get this offense rolling! |

I found this on Roto times... If' he's still limping.. I say go with Wallace another week. One week can make a huge difference with an ankle sprain.

Guys...it is easy to see the difference in QB's Wallace has averaged 10.65 yards per reception over his career (not per pass, per reception) Delhomme has averaged 12.19 yards per reception over his career. That is bigger than the 1.5 y/r seems. Basically what it is saying is that Delhomme goes downfield much more effectively. As for blaming our WR's....Wallace is actually averaging BETTER than he did in 3 of his previous 6 seasons...so it isn't on them. Delhomme, before he got hurt, had 9 completions with an average of 11.7 y/r...including a 41 yd TD...so he was right on target for his average. Our WR's are getting screwed again by the QB play. Just saying. So, for me, Jake can't get back fast enough.

Wait.... Wallace is sitting on a 61.8% pass completion and a 6.7 yard average in his 2 games. Those aren't amazing numbers but they don't look like dink and dunk, and they certainly are better than Delhomme's numbers in his one game this year, and all of last season too. Not that I'm trashing Delhomme, but I'm just saying... Wallace isn't going out and sucking. He's definitely no Brady Quinn. EDIT: LOL

Jake always comes out better if you don't talk interceptions. That's when it all falls apart for him, especially since playoffs 2008. His first game fit the pattern to a tee. Quote:

| remind me....how many did he have for us (including pre-season) before he got hit from behind during his delivery and got hurt?
