Grimm,
Your sense of humor is a breath of fresh air! Seriously, I'm actually with you on game day hoping they finally prove to all the naysayers they can beat elite. What makes them better is competition challenging them for 60 minutes. I'm of the opinion if they played in the SEC - they'd be one of the elites in that conference too. Why? Because you adapt to the level of competition you play just like a thermostat. Competition is what makles you stronger and teams get used to the levels demanded of them. Ohio State was used to competing for less than 15 minutes (except for the Illinois game and the sloppy Miami game).
I'm bummed they lost. I haven't seen an oline in college football that could make holes as wide as the length of an 18 wheel truck quite like I saw on some of those inside runs yesterday. I saw one replay where the BIG back didn't see humanity in the other color jersey until he had a 15 yard sprint behind him. He could have walked for a 15 yard gain.
They didn't resort to anything fancy. They just did it between the tackles and said you aren't stopping us. When OSU finally was able to challenge that a little better later - it was too late. PART of that was 1 team feeling they had something to prove and the other thinking they've already proven prominence. The other part of that is blue collar running games aren't as glamorous to the highlight shows as your spread offense QBs running wild on formation generated seams at the line of scrimmage. It's not looking like Denard Robinson's body can survive the toll of wear and tear it's getting. Meanwhile, Wisonsin can just shuffle in any back they want behind that line and it gets the job done. They never show highlights of Wisconsin when you think about it. The only replays the networks like showing from yesterday are the kickoff return and the playaction pass they connected on. Those weren't what won that game though.
I'm sincerely rethinking that need for a Big 10 Championship. That Conference Championship thing is how an LSU makes a National Championship game with 2 losses. They redeem themselves against strong opponents with rankings that can tally those BCS points. Ohio State's only impressive opponent left is Iowa so it won't be enough to overturn the devastation of just 1 loss. This won't be popular but I really miss Troy Smith in the passing game.
