Interesting points about lerner. They'll get a plastic apology from the league. BUT, they announced that the head linesman was the SAME guy that worked the Superbowl when the Steelers defeated Seattle with all the shadey calls. Hmmmm. Wasn't that reality enough to make Holmgren resign from the competition committee he was heading up?
I STILL remember vivedly the play a Steeler DE was way offsides and the least penalized oline in the NFL had their OT penlaized for holding on the play to nullify a 1stand goal at the 1 yard line. The next play Hasselbeck got intercepted and he was flagged for unnecessary roughness. I WISH I could say I was only kidding. If I told you the line judge was Dewey Cheatem and the Head linesman was Howie Cheatem - would you believe me? Well, I'm only kidding with that part of it.
Pittsburgh feels like the Soddom and Gommorah of the NFL. They market a ton of different jerseys and paraphenalia that coinscides with winning at all costs. The league caters to that every bit as much as it once did to Ray Lewis after he eluded murder charges. That's HOW a rapist can get cheered.
If those head shots happened against the Steelers - you bet your paycheck the entire crew wouldn't work again the rest of the season if the Rooneys didn't get an answer they were okay with. Randy Lerner doesn't strike me as interested enough to care about his inherited business to that depth. Lerner will be absolutely fine with the plastic apology the league will give him. If you see how close officials were to each cheap shot - it's really sickening. They've ruined Carson Palmer's career when you think of how much that knee shot changes his career. Haven't they decided to make that a penalty just like head shots? And guess what team they don't want to call these penalties against? The one that puts them in their game plans. There's the REAL Rooney Rule. I got the sense the entire time that Gooddell let the rooneys dictate the entire thing. The Browns have been flagged for much lesser hits than harrison had today. Think about the Cribbs hit - HOW does he get a concussion if he's not getting a serious blow to the head? I'd be very disappointed in our owner if he's not following up on that kind of hit on one of his players/employees/investments.
