As for Colt, I've taken the wait and see approach on him favoring the "not enough arm" & "big learning curve expected" themes. I knew the kid was a winner, and if he did see time, I just wanted him to look like a football player (which is what has brought me around on Mangini* - he's fielded a football team each week). Colt definitely shut my face on Sunday. Color me excited. *He needs to draft/acquire a pass-rusher. No more trying to out-Belicheat Belicheat. No more projects on the 1st day please. |

| How do you figure? He played well, but so has Seneca all season. I still think Seneca is a better player than Colt until Colt can string together a few good games like Seneca has.

Colt threw for more yards than Wallace has in any game this season. While doing it against the best D in the NFL. Wallace has been serviceable but nothing to write home about. We'll see what Colt does this week. If he plays just as well, there should be no reason for this staff to go back to Wallace or Jake.

Let me start by saying that I was impressed with McCoy's poise on Sunday more than anything else. That being said, I will reserve judgement on him for a few more games as teams will begin to gather film and discover tendencies. I don't think he will be the QB of the future here, but I really hope I am wrong. We have so many needs for next year's draft (WR, DL, LB) that going in another direction other than Luck, Ponder, Mallett would help us add more instant impact early in the draft a la Ward and Haden. I don't think Mangini's job security is relevant when it comes to the decision to play or not play McCoy. Right now, McCoy is the starter because the other two can't suit up. In the meantime, if he continues to progress and lead the offense to some measure of success then he should and will play the rest of the way. Although, Mangini has gone on record with the Favre thing saying that he relented to the trade in NY because he wanted to win. Well, obviously that backfired on him. Colt needs to play and Mangini needs more time as this team's coach. We are dramatically improved in terms of team culture and effort. This team has also taken strides in talent by adding guys like Haden, Ward, Brown, Fujita, and Roth among others. But if there's any hope of a long-term future for Mangini then the most important thing and perhaps the only important thing is finding a QB for the future. Maybe he's already here. Time will tell. |

The more I sleep on it, the more I want to see more of this kid.

I also believe daboll or whomever is really OCing now gave colt a lot of leash and did a fair job of catering the playbook to him, he looked natural and comfortable to me...as far as colt having a noodle arm? No he does not! In my mind there is no need to go back to jake or seneca unless colt gets hurt, we arent going anywhere and the kid is exciting to watch and needs to learn on the job... Its better to lose or even win while training a rookie than it is to lose playing with a lifetime backup that is reluctant to take a shot at a fairly well covered slow WR because of accuracy issues, or an old has been like jake that has a tendency to throw into traffic without thinking or dead on precision....

Sez,Im in total agreement with ya for once...I saw a kid put it on the line...I saw a kid that kept workin hard till the end...I saw a kid play the game not caring if it was the pittsburgh steelers or the titusville toads. People get too hung up on numbers, stats, etc. all the glossy sexy stuff that looks nice. He spun it good...his spirals were pretty tight and he fired the ball to his targets and even showed he had some arm...Im not calling him the savior...but hes looked better than any QB weve drafted since the return. The improvement since preseason to Me is quite profound...Until proven otherwise...keep starting him.

This week's games are already up, actually. Check it out: Everything you need to know about sports on television - the506.com Looks like most of the country is stuck with PIT-MIA this week. Blech. How is that game POSSIBLY more interesting than CLE-NO? No, seriously, MOST of the country getting PIT? C'mon, it's nauseating. Anyway, first interesting note about our game: We're on in Austin, baby! How cool is that? Interesting to see how far west our game goes from NO; stops near Galveston/Houston. Once Colt is announced as starter, you'll see that grow to join Austin, I bet. Can't see why HOU would get PIT over Colt/NO. |
