Default The Rise of Colt

Today I saw the Rise of Colt. Most importantly, I saw NOTHING that made me want to go back to Delhomme or Wallace. I'm firmly in the Keep Colt camp.

Question of this thread: Did you see enough of Colt to give him the rest of the season?

Most of you who know me know that I was for starting BQ from the beginning. Now's the time to get it right.

I'd give him the rest of the year. The Week 12 matchup between Freckles and the Pickle would be a lot of fun.

He didn't look terrible against a very good D in their house. Let him play.

Gotta give him the rest of the season. I liked what I saw. Lets find out if we are drafting a QB in Rd 1 next year or not. I hope not. Go Colt.

Play him till Wallace or Delhomme are at 100% and make the decision off of that body of work. I want to say just start him the rest of the season but i think the intelligent thing to do would be see how he does the next few weeks.

Well he's not gonna play a better defense than he played today so why the hell not? it's not like we're trying to get a playoff push together. Let's get the kid some serious reps so we'll know what we have.

Just think if he played this well (and yes he played well, those 2 picks arent on him) against a Steelers defense, he should absolutely light up the Panthers and Jags.

Let the kid roll.

I know it's way way way early, and one game a career does not make, but how sweet would it be for this kid to be the one. No more QB hunting, no more draft speculation, going into each season worrying about who our new LG or DE is gonna be, not QB.

Ahhh one can dream...

I thought he showed a lot of awareness in the pocket and some pretty good accuracy on most of his throws. For his first NFL game I thought he looked pretty good and I'd be interested in seeing how he improved by playing out the season.

The thing is, I don't think either JD or SW are gonna be healthy enough to play 'til at least week 11 or so...if then. At that point, taking Colt out would be dumb.

Let him take his lumps, and earn his stripes. He needs the experience.

IMO he had a great game today for his first NFL outing. He's gonna falter a little at some point, it's natural. But the only way to keep him at the highest level possible for him is to give him the game time.

i saw enough to keep him in all yr even though it is just one game .... i just been sittin here after the game thinkin about how well it could of been with a more experienced receiver core , even though what we had out there did well a #1 receiver that d-fences worry about will open up alot for our young core and runnin backs ! and also all of the talk of a week arm ?? sure they wernt bullets but they wernt that week either !

I know one game doesn't make the QB but Colt has a 69.7% completion and 80.5 QB rating. Compare that to Bradford's 56.3% and a 69.3 QBR and the Pickles 47.3 and 52.2 QBR and i would say thats a pretty damn fine start. Against the Steelers to boot. I know its not a win in the W-L column but its a win for the Browns in my book that hes performing at a high level.

This is what I meant before....its good for the Browns to keep him in and take his lumps which means few wins....will Mangini do whats good for the Browns...or will he put in JD or SW when they get healthy and maybe get some wins...hmmmmm
