BTW Franchise, I don't recognize your team's unis, what High School are you in?
I went to Ashtabula Edgewood Jax.

Cardinal High School We beat grandvalley in 02 I think it was like 90something-0. After the first quarter they put all the back ups in. We just don't have enough kids come out now and not enough lineman.

Well we where able to bring home the kinsman cup after beating our rivals. 5 teams we played are playing in the play offs, we feel we should and could of been out there tonight. Time to make another run in basketball, after going pretty far in the tourny last year.

The Seniors that played their last hs game.

Hey: I know what you mean. I played at Fairport. You probably play them..I know we played legmont and I think your school too back when I played.. I don't know the leagues anymore as I don't live in Ohio anymore. We had 22 guys come out for 2 days.. It's tough to play ball with no players.
Trust me..you will cherish the memories of the games you did get to play..sorry your senior year got chopped.

It's probably some of the worst news I have ever gotten. Can't play in the big rival game. To top things off coming into the season we had a real good shot of making the play offs. After our game one upset over a real good team it went down hill. In the next game we lost our starting qb for the season, rb they both played both ways. We also lost our fullback for a month and a lineman for majority of the season. We were forced to play people that weren't ready and didn't have an answer for a back up qb. Our team is still fighting hard and had another close game we almost won against a 7-1 team and battled some good teams close, only if we were healthy.
Thanks for sharing your story with us. Hang in there though. One of my buddies blew out his knee in high school back in 1981. He was a LBer that needed to move laterally, backwards and forwards if he was to ever play again. Back in the early 80s - you get this kind of injury and your football days are done unless you've had a damn good reconstruction and 6 month rehab followup. The rehab process was way different then it is now. Anyway, this kid went onto play Division III and became an All American LBer as early as his junior season. I think if he didn't have the injury and he got more than his name right on the SATs - he was a Division I sure bet.

We had the same thing my senior year, we had more starters on the sidelines when we made the Sectional Finals. We lost to team we scored at will on in our scrimmage before the season. And we just didn't lose. We got smoked like a Cheech and Chong cigarette. BTW, that was the only game I missed my senior year and I cannot tell you how much it sucked to make it all the way to a Championship and not be able to suit up. I had the same knee surgery and never played again even though I headed off to college just to play football. I later coached high school for a few years and it was just as much fun as playing. I share this with you because maybe you can go and get some of the necessary certifications in college that enable you to coach high school kids. Others on our board coach youths.

Try to remember the FUN and experiences you've had together. The winning was nice but some of the hilarious things that happened during the year are what I remembered most when it was all said and done. In the bigger picture, this doctor might be saving you from a tragedy on the field at the expense of a couple less wins on game day. The trouble is all us football guys are wired the same and we can't help but thinkign about those few less chances at victories in pads.

Glad to have you on board with us! Welcome!!!
- Tom F.

Franchise that's some brutal news. Overall though, I wonder what you can tell us about the concussions and how they've affected you. Was it your first one? I mean they're such a big deal right now I just wonder how they handle them at that level of play.

I always wanted to play High School football but I never did because the coach was a douche bag. I gotta respect anyone who plays the sport. It's physically demanding and I wish I would've taken the opportunity to play at that level.

Thanks for the response's!

I would love to be able to coach one day, I love trying to help everyone get better now on the team.

This is my 2nd one, although my first one was last year in basketball (nailed my head on the court going for the ball). I could of swore I probably had one during 2-a days but idk. I had terrible headaches for 4 weeks, dr. gave me ultra set to get rid of them and I had blurred vision in my left eye for 2 weeks. My helmet popped off, well chin strap broke and I got hit in my left eye and had a nice bruise. It was more misserable recovering from this than when I broke my ankle.

We had another kid get 2 concussion and said he actually felt dumber, slurred some words and didn't feel all there.

There's a Fairport, NY team that competed for large school state football titles alot more than once from 1977-1999. Since 2000, they might have become worse than the Ohio Fairport team.
