Default End to my (HS) football season.

Just got rant a little here. Got a concussion, lost my helmet and got hit again after my helmet came off. I can't get cleared because the dr. said I'm not ready and any more hits not can cause some real brain damage. Just like that my senior year of football is over! It's probably some of the worst news I have ever gotten. Can't play in the big rival game. To top things off coming into the season we had a real good shot of making the play offs. After our game one upset over a real good team it went down hill. In the next game we lost our starting qb for the season, rb they both played both ways. We also lost our fullback for a month and a lineman for majority of the season. We were forced to play people that weren't ready and didn't have an answer for a back up qb. Our team is still fighting hard and had another close game we almost won against a 7-1 team and battled some good teams close, only if we were healthy.

A couple pics from the season. Also we only had about 25 kids coming into the season, a couple weeks we couldn't even form a practice squad.

Was on defense

First play of the season, should of had the pick.

After our upset win, we stopped them on the 1 as time expired, best game I have ever seen. No one even picked us to win in the papers and they thought they only had to show up to win.

Had one pretty sweet picture of me full stretched out to break up a pass but can't find it.

I don't know if I will get the chance to play, I talked to some smaller colleges about playing but I joined the Air Force and might play some on base but the majority of my career is over.

I'm going to move this to the Browns section where I'm sure you'll get more love.

Tough break my friend ...it takes so much work to play the game, to go out like that is a tough pill to swallow. Glad you are ok though, that's the important thing.

At least you made the team and got to play some organized football ....that's more than probably the majority of Browns fans can say.

I loved my time playing hs football.
The best part was being a part of the team.
You sweated, ate and bled with guys you wound up loving like brothers, well, at least while you're on the field together.
It's truly a unique and positive experience that teaches hard work and comradery that sticks with you the rest of your life.
I was lucky enough to get to play through 2 ankle sprains, but wound up missing half a season due to a concussion and broken wrist.
Sorry, I know it sucks to be injured, but hey, at least you've got this time you'll be able to look back on with fondness for the rest of your life.

Franchise, sorry to hear your season cut short. Who was the team in the 3rd picture down - the team with an "F" on their helmet? That almost looks like my home town team the Fairport Skippers but we had anchors on our helmets when I played (a long time ago).

Franchise tough way to go out but you had more than many, so keep your head up.

I saw the mighty Ledgemont team there and like Jax says, mighty mighty Fairport LOL.

I'll never forget my team playing and the bond with my buddies. We were the best team in my high school's history and we are all very proud of that to this day. We were winners, and that is cool, but winning or losing, just playing for awhile is cool too.

Yep, Fairport was the game I got it in, ended up playing the rest of the game. Although I don't remember the game at all lol. Ledgemont was the game we lost all the rest of the kids, all in the same game.

One things for sure I'll always be a die hard browns fan! I already follow them like crazy and watch every game. Even though majority of the kids in school now are front runners and are steeler fans and just run there mouths every time they win.

Mighty Ledgemont and mighty Fairport were both in the Grand Valley Conference when I was in H.S., not sure what they call it now. I'm suprised Riffer from Akron has ever heard of these teams...I know he said it facetiously but Fairport has always been mighty - in baseball! The baseball team has always been very good. The football team was and probably still is something like the third smallest school in the state of Ohio to field a football team. My graduating class was all of 33.

BTW Franchise, I don't recognize your team's unis, what High School are you in?

I played for John Carroll University for all of 9 practices before I blew out my knee. I was bummed big time. I never went back because I wasn't going to start anyway. But you know what I did? I played flag football. We had some pretty good Div II and Div III players in the leagues and the talent level was pretty high.

I can't remember all the guys who played in the USFTL but we played against talent from Chicago, New Jersey, Miami and Pennsylvania.

Point is you're not as down and out as you may think. I'm sure the USAF has some flag teams. Anyway, I played until I was 38. Once you have football in your blood it's hard to give it up. Go find a team and be a baller.
