Anyone who is saying that we should have these new rules applied to the game because of fear of injury is ready to screw the game of football and the game as it has been played since before you were born. Nobody in their right mind wants to see players get a season ending or worse injury. I know some of you did not like the hits Harrison put on your players. But this is a part of the game. The violence that is inherent in this sport is one of the things that made it popular. Even your own players were defending Harrisons hits. But when you start to attempt to take the violence out of this sport you stab the sport itself in the heart. I am sick of the pussification of the NFL and how some fans can't see that danger is part of life. It's part of this game. These guys choose to play this game, get paid millions of dollars to put their body in danger, and if you have noticed shows that play things like plays from the previous week called "he got jacked up" are popular because it's what the game has always been. Violent. |

![]() How could any of us be crazy enough to think a player like this would ever take a cheap shot at someone? It's not like he didn't try to make tackles on Cribbs and MoMass and lead with his helmet instead like he was trying to spear them. Ooops! Guess he did didn't he?

Heaven forbid the NFL actually use some discipline or penalize their golden child team. You can't have players out there with malicious intent. I know Harrison pumping himself full of steroids and trying to kill people is what made him DPOY from being a fringe practice squad player, but it just shouldn't be allowed. Despite what he says, I get the sick feeling that Harrison would be just as happy to find out that he did substantially more damage to Cribbs/MoMass. |

Yes, football is a violent sport, but the"new' players have taken it to a whole new level. The speed, size, and atheticism of the players today are taking collisions to catastrophic level. You DO realize the life expectancy for an Nfl player is only 54 years....that's 20 years less than the average person. Most of the shortness of lifespan can be directly connected to brain injuries incurred during their playing times. Everyone of these players know how to make a proper tackle, they choose not to .....instead looking for the big hit! At the present rate of head hunting that's going on it's not long before you see someone carried off the field and straight to the morgue!!!

You've got to feel for the guy, all mislabeled as a cheap player. He just loves to hit! He's so dedicated to hitting, once he steps off the field he goes home and hits his girlfriend too, just so he doesn't lose his edge. i may b scolded on this one but i'll give him some slack on the cribbs hit ... i feel he was trying to spear him{ body shot} but didnt anticipate the other tackler on cribbs ankle that led to his postion of havin his helmet where it was when it got hit ...... but on the other hit where he hit momass and thrusted his body while doing it was cheap !! alot of plays are to disrupt the receiver and dislodge the ball but you are supposed to tackle not hit a player with your hands behind your back leading to a helmet to helmet collision , i feel alot of shots are gonna get fined that shouldnt , ya it is a part of the game but all that changed when guys started head hunting instead of tryin to make a real play on the receiver/runnin back

Yes thats what they said publicly but,if you think they really thought those hits were legal your high om crack dude. If Pig Ben and Cry baby ward were spearheaded Im sure they league would levy fines and suspensions the next day. You might feel good going to bed at night knowing your team, players, coaches have been cheaters using steriods and paying off refs...maybe you think thats cute but karma comes back around.

I'd be about as hard on Harrison if he had laid a similar lick on Terrell Owens (and I hate that Bungle jackass with a passion). Golly gee, they outlawed chop-blocks on offensive linemen because too many guys were getting their knees blown out. Ever consider This particular crackdown has to do with the neurosurgeons the NFL consults are getting nervous if continued headhunting is allowed to go on there's going to be a rash of Darryl Stingley incidents in the near future? No one is arguing about hitting too hard- I don't want to see any player wind up in a wheelchair for life- and sorry pal- Harrison's shot on Cribbs could have easily busted his neck. The game is played at such a fast pace inadvertent helmet to helmet will never be eliminated- but you will never convince me in a million years Harrison didn't deliberately lead with his helmet on Cribbs. A matter of interpretation- but in my book according to Rule 12 Cribbs was in a defensless position, and Harrison drilled him. Now you are on to one thing- the millions of dollars. You think owners- (or fans of any team) want to see their top players incapacitated for weeks by cheapshots of headhunting goons? Last edited by hoorta; 10-20-2010 at 04:06 AM. |
