Default Do You Want to See Spoiled Fans?

Folks,
I'm not saying Les Miles is a terrific coach; BUT he seemingly has a consistent winning percentage over 80%. I bring this up because their fans have wanted him fired all throughout the 7-0 start this year. His clock management has been atrocious BUT durign the week that team has at least been prepared enough to rise above the opponet just about every time. AND, he seems to be good at bringing in talented kids to keep that program where Saban brought it.

IMO, people are really quick to forget that Nick Saban left the Big 10 because he didn't like the challenge of balancing the academic stardards with the makign the winning more consistent than George Perles had it.

Anyway, looking at a Les Miles that may not be such a great game day coach clock management wise - he's winning with gadget plays, luck and having enough talent on the roster reminds me that it's not always about the better mind on the sidelines. It's about who has the RIGHT blend of talent ready to play. LSU plays with GOOD fundamental skills and good assignment football if you watch them enough to understand they're well coached in weekly preparations. That's why NFL teams enjoy looking to them for round 1 players just about every year.

That team blocks very well and they tackle MOST ballcarriers (not to be confused with Newton) extremely well. There's a defensive back there named Peterson that has 3 pic 6's this year with some phenominal closing speeds and ball skills the Cleveland Browns could use right about now.

Anyway, I just find it funny that a program that wins as often as they do in arguably one of the toughest conferences in colllege football has a fanbase that wants it's head coach shipped off to one of the Dakotas. FWIW, those fake FGs have been a big part of SEC Championships won and beating top 20 teams consistently. They play REALLY good STs and solid fundamentals; but try to telling that to a fanbase that thinsk changing thr name of their head coach means winnign more football games.

My neighbor, who is the Production Manager of Rascal Flats, is an avid LSU fan that hates Les Miles. He's no different than any other LSU fan. Les Miles = Less Smiles in 1 fanbase.

This is the same mindset that wants Tressel fired for not winning more national championships at Ohio State. Hard to understand because they are both in the top 10 of college coaches even though they both have their flaws.

Good point! They actually act like the guy is John Cooper. Well, maybe he is; because his most recent National Championships includes 2 losses where Cooper has had some 1 loss teams that beat Texas A&M and Arizona State in Bowl Games with a 0% chance of being awarded a national Championship after their wins.

That OSU team that fell asleep at the wheel with a 28 point lead on Michigan State before they took advantage of the height difference between Plex Burress and Antoine Winfield was one of the best teams I've seen at OSU. Point IS only the Bobby Bowdens or some SEC coaches get away with 1 or 2 losses and getting rewarded anyhow. On the other hand, there's Tommy Tuberville's undefeated Auburn team that didn't get any love for National Championship consideration.

Florida ALMOST didn't get to play Ohio State because they had a loss and the media was in LOVE with Michigan and this idea of a rematch they didn't deserve.

I LIKE Tressel but I think he's a little too loyal to the defensive coordinator he has had in recent years. The yardage yielded vrs Indiana, Ohio U and Eastern Michigan paddign his resume doesn't impress me. They should be better on the defensive side of the ball when games mean siomething in recent years. The likable qaulities of Tressell also handcuff him such as the loyalty thing. He won't get fired because he shouldn't get fired. Let's just hope he adds a little urgency to take the next step and do what he needs to on the defensive side of the ball to make thinks better when they see the Floridas, USCs, LSUs, Texas and now the Wisconsins of college football.

I thought Cooper was blessed with the most talented Buckeye teams in my lifetime but always found a way to lose one or two games a year before the bowl games. A hell of a lot of talented players, some still playing in the NFL.

Auburn's undefeated year was also the year they were on NCAA probation and ineligible for a bowl game if my memory is correct.

That is indeed correct Jax.

However, the year they had HC Tommy Tuberville and a backfield with Ronnie Brown, Cadillac Williams and Jason Campbell at QB as well as defensive gems like Carlos Rogers and Karlos Dansby - they went unbeaten and virtually unappreciated for it. That team was not on probation unlike the one Bowden's son coached.

Good points about OSU & Cooper! Poor Cooper always came down with the big game stupor vrs at least 1 of the schools in Michigan.
