specifically colt mccoy's throw chart. if anyone remembers the routes, distances, even formations that he threw, i'd like to know. i'm interested to know what the coaching staff is having the rook do out there.

I can't give you specifics like that, but I was at the game and I can tell you that I commented more than once to the fans around me that I loved the fact that the coaching staff was trusting this rookie to make plays and not just trying to hide him.

It may be a contradiction to what I am saying in the Daboll thread, but I thought playcalls like allowing him to attemp to throw things like the jump balls on the sidelines.

And if you listen to Mangini's press conference, the coaching staff is continuing to be impressed with the rookie and have been giving him more and mroe responsibilites with each practice.

I was there too and he pretty much threw every type of pass. Middle of the field and sidelines. Touch passes and passes with zip. In the pocket and outside the pocket. The only thing he didn't do was hit a deep one. They threw a few to keep the defense honest.

thanks, guys. i was wondering how much they're letting the rook do, and it sounds like he's getting the opportunity to run every play in the playbook, which is great. i was afraid his 19 throws were screens, checkdowns, and other safe garbage, but it's very encouraging that's he's being allowed to make and is actually completing all the throws that an NFL QB has to be able to make.

I'd like to see all of the 3rd down conversions. It seemed like he really did well there, mainly because his pocket presence was nothing short of outstanding. Maybe the best since Sipe.

most of our passes were to the middle of the field.. a couple outside.. and we took a shot or two downfield..but mostly 7-12 yard stuff between the hash's.. he did also thow a nice back shoulder pass on the sidline to ??? momass...can't recall..
but what was really awesome was watching Vickers blow guys up and Hillis rolling in behind him.

@ JD - I was somewhere between "not enough arm" and "not elite arm" that I was able to play up and hyperbolize into calling him noodle arm for jokes.

After Sunday, I wont be doing that anymore. "The Throw*" to Robo was as good as any I've seen.

*rolled out to the right and fired a 20 yd laser - AFTER a delay of game penalty on us. Also, it's time we start naming some positive shit.
