Thumbs up Peter Schrager says ...

Browns over Jets.

Quote:
New York Jets at Cleveland: Last year, Eric Mangini watched the NFL's Championship Game Sunday on TV like the rest of us. Only, when he settled into his sofa chair, he was watching his former employers compete in the early game and his hired gun quarterback in the late one. So yeah, that probably wasn't too much fun. But Mangini, now 30 pounds lighter than he was last season and reportedly in the best physical shape since his college days at Wesleyan, seems to be having a bit of fun with his Browns (or, as much fun as Eric Mangini possibly could appear to have). Fresh off back-to-back wins over the Saints and Patriots, the slimmed down Mangini now gets a shot to knock off his old team on Sunday. I like Mangini and Cleveland defensive coordinator Rob Ryan to beat brother Rex and the Jets on Sunday.
The Pick: Browns 24, Jets 17

Man, if the Browns can just win one more big game, combined with the Pats having a rebound game to beat the Steelers, then we're actually in the hunt. And instead of the toughest schedule the rest of the way, we have the 20th ranked schedule.

AFC NORTH STANDINGS
TEAM W L T PCT PF PA
Steelers 6 2 0 .750 174 123
Ravens 6 3 0 .667 196 165
Browns 3 5 0 .375 152 156
Bengals 2 6 0 .250 167 190

I wish he had a REASON to pick us other than Mangini's weight and the Browns are a bunch of misfit rejects.

I feel like his entire commentary was about Rudolph and the island of the misfit toys with Mangini playing skinny Santa!!!

Man! This is just getting all kinds of fun. I can only imagine the crowd on Sunday. We're starting to compete Browns fans!!! Browns vs. stoolers in Cleveland in the final week and Sunday night football can reschedule game times depending on playoff situations so wouldn't that be game?!

IMO this is the biggest game in years. We win this game and we are in it, but the respect around the media and the league will be immense. The Browns will officially be back.

Oh, to just have those first two games back.....or even the third game.

The past is the past and the only thing that's worth worrying about is the present. We need to win this game and I am sure Mangini has this team geared up for it. We've beaten two of the NFL's best teams back-to-back and now we face one of the NFL's toughest D's. I think this is going to be a low scoring game that is fought tooth and nail to the end.

We CAN win, and I think it's not even one of those "We need everything to go our way" situations. The Jets can be beaten, and we're going to do it sunday!

Richardson gives us a HB with abilities the Browns have not seen in decades!
The message is clear, we want to score more than 13.6 PPG this year.

WOOF WOOF WOOF!

I watched the Jets pull the Detroit game out their asses. It came on after we beat down the Pats and there is no way the Jets should have won, it was given to them.

Golic picked the Browns this morning.

I think I want this win almost as much as I want us to beat the steelers again.

It's funny that already this season is so frustrating and exciting at the same time. win even ONE out of those first three games and we are definitely in the hunt for a playoff spot now. There's still hope, but MAN, those games are haunting me.

Looks like the Vegas guys have the Jets by 3. Perfect. Let's get these wig wearing fools. I'm really hoping McCoy outshines Sanchez.

New York Jets (6-2) at Cleveland Browns (3-5)
Not even sure we should call this an upset, though by Vegas rules it would be. Last two games: Browns 64, Saints/Pats 31 ... Peyton Hillis 253 rushing yards ... Colt McCoy, 66-percent passing, zero turnovers, one sack taken. Folks, if you think these Browns are flukes, you're not watching.

I'm modestly hopeful and cautiously optimistic about this week.

Winning three in a row is a challenge at ANY time so this is a HUGE week any way you cut it.

I am not yet to the point where I expect a competitive game every week. What I'd be okay with, as a minimum, is not to regress. I want to see us NO WORSE than any game this year; if we do that much, we will have a chance to win.

As for wishing for those early games back, I honestly don't wish for them back. I think they were essential to the team getting to this point. I think if we simply squeak by KC and TB we get killed by NO and NE. I honestly feel like those early losses helped this team wake up and I'd bet anything that it gave EM the firepower to challenge the guys (and himself, maybe) to go for it in those other games.

So, in short, I like this storyline just fine. Having the early losses to compare our huge wins to makes the wins sweeter, for me.

Now if we can keep the story going, that would REALLY make those early games a distant -- but important -- memory.
