Weird thread because it goes against what everyone wants.. a winner today.
For the first time I feel our owner got it right.

To say it doesn't matter to him is like saying property market in NYC never mattered to Mr Trump.

He's learning and IMO he did well this go.
He hired a guy who is reknowned for winning, developing QB's .
He also hired Heck who can obviously scout/recruit/sign guys that FIT the teams plans.
The two of them also saw that mangini is a good coach... he inspires...what else is the coaches job?

Colt is way better as a leader in the NFL than pretty much ANY sports analyst said he would be.

Hillis is a beast.

our secondary actually looks freakin good!

we have needs.. but those needs were dictated by a decade of crap calls/signings

I for once am excited about where this team is going.

One thing I've noticed lately is how fast we throw people under the bus.
Duh'bol gotta go... um.. he's not bad.., YOU try implementing a Game plan with a 2-3 reciever set when you have...maybe 1
Stays with whats solid... well so far very few teams have shut down Hillis. exceptions being when Hillis was hurt or our O'line turned to sieve with the addition of St Clair.

we can Not do it all in one season..
As a Browns fan used to heartache yet still take a perverse pleasure in our team... give these guys a chance!

I remember last year.. I almost dreaded watching the games it was so ugly. My joy last year.. waiting for DA to do something dumb so I could laugh at him.. that is pathetic ..and I mean ME... To be a fan waiting for your own QB to screw up to laugh at him.that is really sad.... . Last year was the lowest EVER.. I cannot believe how far we have come in just one offseason.. OZ is right.. what will we look like after Heck gets 2-3 drafts on this roster.

Yesterday was the worst game in weeks.. Jags did what the other top teams in the league could not do. Make Colt look like a rookie.. They played a great defensive game.. I expected this game to come sooner for Colt.. but somebody was bound to do it.. blitz him until his head spun off.. the Jags did that yesterday... He will learn a lot from yesterday.. It's not just the Steelers and Ravens D's that are good in this league..every week.. it's cominatchya.. Colt is tough and smart.. He and the team will bounce back from this..
This team is very fun to watch now..

I good friend of mine is a die hard Eagles fan. He told me, "You'll love Sheldon Brown. He's a player and even a better team-first, locker room guy". That's exactly what Mangini wants, its what Brown has delivered, and I buy into that system hook, line, and sinker.

Fits our city and if we stick with it we'll win it all..... original Browns style.

Look, we are 2-3 with Colt at QB...and all against playoff teams. Not only that, but we had a chance to win 2 of those games....and Colt brought us back for either the go ahead or tying score late in 2 games....and if not for lucky plays by the opposing team WOULD have won them.

All this without a legit deep threat at WR, with injuries on the right side of the OL, and in the last game and a half, without Cribbs and the leader of our D (Fujita).

That is something to build on.

By the way, we have a very nice group of talented young guys.

We still need a RT, and a WR, and a DE or 2, and likely another CB...but that just proves how well we are doing with what we DO have this year.

I am pumped. I love this team of nobodies!!!

That's right, zero. And I'm not even the best at what I do, nor do I get paid millions of dollars to do it.

Nobody is expecting overnight success. I've just wanted us to field a football team, which we have. Dbs has shown he can call a game. Im not sure why he chose not to on Sunday. Again, I point to the Jags throwing alley-oops to their 6-8 TE all afternoon. We have that same guy. Evan Moore had 3 catches.

Actually He bounced back from it IN THAT GAME. Don't foget, he led the team down to the go ahead FG in the 4th quarter on a bum ankle. And then even after the heartbreaking score by Jax with no real chance to win. Our rookie QB made plays that at least had Jax neverous there at the end.

It take time to build a team. We are lot better this year than last year. If we keep up the rate of improvement we could be strong like Philadelphia Eagles. Look at Andy Reid he had been there for a long time and is doing great job. Maybe he find someone to win the superbowl instead of McNabb in Michael Vick.

Nice point.. even though Jax really made him look like a rookie for the first time this season...he still put us in position to win.. again.. That was the one thing I really loved about this kid.. anyone who remembers preseason I was dead set against a high pick for QB..but said..if we get anyone...I want McCoy.. not because of the physical tools..but because of the program, the high profile games, the number of starts.. but mostly... the kid just WINS.. you can't measure that last one..the ability to lead teams to a victory...even if it's ugly.. He is a leader.. so far..he looks like the real deal.. Thanks Heckert.. maybe our 20 year drought on a real qb is finally over.

Excellent post Oz. Your organization looks to be the taking great strides forward. With great acquisitions in FA and the draft of skilled, quality, high character players, the foundation for a possibly great team certainly seems to be in place. With another year to develop the youthful leaders of the team like McCoy, and explosive, exciting players like Hillis adding to the original groundwork including Cribbs among others, you have a lot of upside. Couple all that with removing cancerous divas like Edwards and you certainly seem to be pointed in the right direction. I would say it is a very exciting time to be a Browns fan. Congrats to you guys.
