Colt McCoy, QB, Cleveland BrownsSaturday 11/27, 8:29 AM CT
Speaking on Friday, quarterback Jake Delhomme said rookie Colt McCoy is "the future of the Cleveland Browns," according to the Cleveland Plain-Dealer.

Our View: McCoy has certainly played well this season, but it's no guaranteed that quarterbacks guru Mike Holmgren won't still look to improve the position this offseason. McCoy is unlikely to be a great fantasy option in 2011.

JDH is definately a team guy.. I hope they keep him as a backup to mentor colt. I think Colt has played well enough that we may not draft to replace him..but we will see.. maybe another 3rd or 4th round QB pick ... but I believe we can be a playoff team with a good offseason.. so picks in other places may the way we roll. I'm fine no matter what we do at QB next year.. Just so long as DE and WR are addressed early and often.

I think Delhomme should do fine provided he plays the whole game healthy and doesn't force himself to play on one leg like back in the week one spectacle that unfolded. Carolina is probably hands down the worst team in the NFL this season. If we manage to find a way to lose this week, it will be a major morale blow to me at the very least. We've been playing hard and keeping in it but we need to at least be winning the close games against teams that we are better than.

Can't believe Colt's got the high ankle sprain. Hoping its not serious as Seneca got injured what... 4-5 weeks ago and he's not 100%. I expect Colt might be done for the season, but that's okay. Let Colt rest up, I think he's made a legitimate case for himself to be the starter of our future and I believe there isn't a single one of us who would question him as our QB of the future as of right now.

Glad to see that Jake's got his back, I'll be interested to see if Seneca has his back as well since he's been the most vocal of the "play me!" bunch. He's been pretty quiet as of late, I bet he got some heat from Mangini for it. Wouldn't be surprised anyway.

I'm not worried about Jake starting sunday. The majority of his play that has been judged was done so on one bum leg and really I think it sucks for Jake because we're pretty quick to crucify poor QB play. This is a game for him to redeem himself and a big win with quality QB play will go a long way in helping smooth over Delhomme play/Fan attitude relations.

BROWNS 2012: We have our "New Offense" It's Put up or shut up time.
Weeden gives us a QB with skills McCoy does not have.
Richardson gives us a HB with abilities the Browns have not seen in decades!
The message is clear, we want to score more than 13.6 PPG this year.

WOOF WOOF WOOF!

I know im in the minority here but I really like JD. He'll be "OK" if not asked to save the day. Hes ok in our system, when healthy. I also believe Colt is the future so take it for what its worth.

Actually you're probably not as minority as you might think. No one really thought Jake was the saviour. I thought and a few others, that Jake could be a good mentor , and that's what he's being!

I don't dislike Seneca but I don't see him next year. I predict Colt starter, JDH 2nd and newly aquired QB from rnd 4 as 3rd next year.

This game scares the crap out of me. This QB matchup looks like the lesser of 2 evils will win. Why do I get the feeling Carolina's defense has been playing "Here Comes Santa Claus" all week? Do the football gods really HATE us this much?

This franchise and fanbase has been trampled by more footprints than any doormat in the country.

The millisecond Jake shows our coaching that same "Oh shit, why didn't I retire when I should have?" - they better yank him; because players see right through that when they're busting tail and realizing it's a complete waste of time.

I don't care if we bring in some squid that throws skyhooks as long as he's not having panic attacks behind center. We don't deserve that. THIS is the crap that supercedes what plays are called IMO. The STAFF needs to determine who gives us the best chance to win as opposed to what guy has the biggest salary.

Let's hope I'm wrong here and Jake actually shows some confidence and reminders of what he used to be. This is one of those weeks I'd rather be pleasantly surprised than expecting too much and receiving too little. We have more trouble with the teams we're supposed to beat than the ones we're not supposed to be on the same field with. It's always been that way IMO.

The thread bernie started about "plugging holes" sums up that fear I'm guessing . We've sucked bad against 4-3 defenses (Atlanta and Jacksonville) and have not been able to run against them. That's bad cuz that's what we do best right now
