Man. Beautiful weather and only two field goals. Sheesh.

Browns get the ball first to start the second half.

Whoo. Beautiful.
Thank you, Phil Dawson!
I hope that, whoever it was that had a head injury is okay, and hope that Evan Moore's hip is also alright...

I love these guys! Go, BROWNS!

I'm happy that my prediction in the other thread was wrong
Game ball to Haden ( a pick a few REALLY nice passes defended and a few really nice tackles on run plays)
Props also to Dabs for making some changes in second half
Also to Big Baby he madea showing today
Also to the rest of the D
Also to Jake for not messing up( actually his numbers were pretty good today)

I think our O Line needs more help, although Jake seemed to have time mostly, the run game wasn't blowing any holes open very often.

Quick hitters below. For an ugly win, there were actually some nice positives.

Defense Propels Browns to Win

By Fred Greetham
OBR Browns Reporter
Posted Dec 5, 2010

Interceptions and clutch defensive play were key in a 13-10 Browns victory made possible by two field goals following Chad Henne picks. Fred Greetham recaps the action.

In the end of a defensive battle, it was only appropriate the defense made a play to win the game.

David Bowens tipped a pass from Chad Henne and Mike Adams intercepted the pass and returned it to the Dolphins’ two with less than a minute to play to set up the game-winning field goal by Phil Dawson as time expired to give the Browns a 13-10 win. The Browns have won two in a row and are now 5-7.

The Browns had three interceptions in the game. Meanwhile, Jake Delhomme threw none and finished 24-of-34 for 217 yards and a touchdown to Ben Watson. However, Delhomme threw a third down pass right into the arms of Dolphins’ defensive back Nolan Carroll, who dropped the almost certain interception return for a touchdown.
The Browns had to punt after Carroll’s drop, setting the stage for Adam’s heroics, three plays later.

In the first half of a defensive battle, the Browns turned an Abe Elam interception into a field goal and Dan Carpenter kicked a 60-yard field goal to make it 3-3 at the half.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Browns scored the first points of the game with 1:43 to play as Dawson hit a 32-yard field goal. The score was set up by an interception by Abe Elam, who returned the ball to the Dolphins’ 28. The Browns could only get to the Dolphins’ 14 before ending up kicking the field goal.

Immediately following the Browns score, the Dolphins were able to get to the Browns’ 43 before Carpenter lined up for a 60-yard attempt, which barely made it over the cross bar. It was the longest field goal in the Dolphins’ history.

The Browns had just 82 yards in total offense in the first half and punted after their first five possessions. The Dolphins had a chance on their first drive, but Carpenter’s 41-yard field goal attempt was blocked by Shaun Rogers.

The Browns had a chance to take the lead on their second possession of the second half but Dawson’s 47-yard field goal attempt faded left late and hit the upright. Delhomme was sacked on third down and it moved Dawson back 10 yards, just enough for the miss.

The Browns took a 10-3 lead with 1:16 to play in the third quarter as
Ben Watson caught a three-yard pass from Delhomme for a touchdown. Delhomme hit Mohamed Massaquoi for two big plays on the drive. The first was for 37 yards to the 4 and then three plays later, he caught a 33 yard pass to the three. On the next play,
Delhomme hit Watson coming across the middle. Delhomme was 4-of-4 on the drive for 88 yards. The Browns went 94 yards on six plays consuming 3:40 for the score.

The Dolphins tied the score at 10-10 with 10:27 to play as Henne hit Anthony Fasano with an 11-yard touchdown pass. The Dolphins answered the Browns score with an 11 play, 80 yard drive of their own, taking 5:49 off the clock. Henne hit Ricky Williams for a 17-yard screen pass to the Browns’ 49 and then a key play was when Henne scrambled on third-and-3 for 10 yards to the 30.

The Browns tried to move into position to kick a game-winning field goal, but Delhomme was sacked to force the Browns to punt. With less than a minute to play, Henne tried to throw on third down and Bowens was able to get his hand on the ball and Adams intercepted the pass and returned it to the Dolphins’ two. Delhomme kneeled three times and then Dawson kicked a 24-yard field goal as time expired.

Notebook
Jake’s Play: QB Jake Delhomme was 11-of-17 for 48 yards in the first half with no touchdowns or interceptions. Delhomme allowed a sack in the third quarter which forced Phil Dawson to kick a 47-yard field goal, instead of a 37- yard. He finished 24–of-34 for 217 yards and a touchdown.

Big Ben: TE Ben Watson had 10 catches for 100 yards and a touchdown. It was the most receptions in a game for Watson. He had 8 catches against the Jets on 11/13/08.

Peyton’s Day: RB Peyton Hillis had 18 rushes for 57 yards and caught 7 passes for 22 yards. He didn’t score a touchdown for only the second time this season.

The Picks:The Browns secondary had three interceptions, two of which figured in scores. S Abe Elam intercepted QB Chad Henne and returned the ball to the Dolphins’ 28 to set up the Browns’ first score. Joe Haden intercepted Henne in the first half and Mike Adams set up the game-winning field goal with under a minute to play as he returned an interception to the Dolphins’ two.

Haden’s Play: CB Joe Haden intercepted a pass in his fourth-straight game. He intercepted QB Chad Henne in the first half. Haden leads the Browns with five interceptions. Haden made his second-straight start at left cornerback for CB Eric Wright, who did play. Haden batted down two passes and was active as a tackler with five.

Baby Blocks: DL Shaun ‘Big Baby’ Rogers blocked 41-yard field goal attempt by K Dan Carpenter at the end of the Dolphins’ first drive. It was Rogers’ first blocked kick this season. Rogers had a sack of Henne in the final drive of the first half. He also tripped up Henne as he was scrambling on a third down play in the fourth quarter short of a first down forcing a punt.

Mo Time: WR Mohamed Massaquoi had four receptions for 81 yards, while WR Brian Robiskie had two reception s for 10 yards.

Tackle Time: DB Abe Elam led the Browns with seven tackles and an interception.

Titus Down: LB Titus Brown suffered a head injury in the first half and did not return.

Getting Personal: LB Eric Barton was flagged for a personal foul for hitting QB Chad Henne in the first quarter. Former Dolphin LB Matt Roth drew a personal foul as he hit Henne in the helmet late in the second quarter.

McCoy Inactive: QB Colt McCoy was inactive for the second-straight week. WR Josh Cribbs was active.
