Pretty much most failed HC's as you usually don't get an interview unless you're a good coordinator.

Oh yeah, as for Baby Hoodie, most of the blame for the Broncos current situation should land on owner Pat Bowlens shoulders. 1: He wanted a team like the Patriots and 2: He made the rookie owner mistake of giving personnel control to the head coach. There are three instances in the last 40 years where the latter has worked: Tom Landry, Andy Reid and Bill Belichick. Bad odds.

Back to the former, I have to think about our situation. Alot of similarity. On the surface McDaniels took over a pretty talented team. Dig deeper however and he inherited an undersized O.L., an undersized D.L., a speedy 4-3 defense, an alcoholic QB that didn't fit his system, a diva WR that threw temper tantrums at the first sign of hard coaching and DIDN'T want to be there. Bowlen wanted a team like the Pats and well, it takes time to go from a WCO hybrid with an udersized defense to a Parcells style team. More than a year and a half.

On that Bowlen was a little too impatient. His second mistake being giving McDaniels personnel control, with a GM making those choices we're probably talking about an entirely different team right now. At the least roster wise.

McDaniels will have to return to assistant coaching for a few years but he'll get another shot as a head coach in the future.

Head Coaches doesn't work on young coaches these days, you need experience. Not surprised about Josh losing his job.

Who is the alcoholic qb mentioned ? Is that why Denver trade in Jake Cutler to the Bears ?

Yeah, Jay Cutler is an alcoholic. That's not fully why he was traded, after not being able to trade for Matt Cassel when McDaniels arrived Cutler wanted a trade. I'm pretty certain his substance abuse was a factor in Hoodie Jr trying to trade for a different QB soon as he arrived.

I'm not so sure Cutler is a true alcoholic. He likes to party for sure but what young guy with money pouring out of his pockets doesn't? Don't get the impression I'm defending Cutler because I like him as a QB because I'm not particularly enamored with his gunslinger mentality.

One thing for sure about Cutler is he is diabetic. I don't think being a hardcore alcoholic and being diabetic would be a healthy combination for a person trying to make a living as a professional athlete.

I do like this quote. I've smiled because of it, from the moment I heard it uttered... He's got this part right...
