Houston was pretty aggressive on defense back then and liked to blitz a lot, spreading guys out helped Bernie beat it and also left Mack running lanes. Probably the best offense to run against that defense---or at least enough to keep them honest.

It was actually Marc Trestman that was the OC that year as Infante had went on to the Packers to be HC. Trestman was an attorney (or something like that) who was very unpopular with the fans back then following Lindy. I think he coaches the Alouettes now, but he's been around the block.

Hmmmm...interesting. The big stink about how the NFL is over regulating vicious hits and they flag Darden for that hit. And the announcer said that it was a new rule and this is in 1980.

That hit by Darden was very close to the Ward hit in terms of where they hit there man,funny it was against the same team.
